In my WP Admin, under Settings->Reading. The checkbox “Search engine visibility – Discourage search engines from indexing this site” (tab-panel-site-visibility) keeps being switched to “ON (checked)” which causes the site to insert a NOINDEX, Meta Tag, in Robots. This happens about once every 30 minutes.

I’ve turned off a number of plugins to see which may be changing the setting and it appears that it may be “XML Sitemap & Google News”, as disabling the plug-in stopped the update of this setting.

Is anyone else having this issue or can shed some light on the issue?

Search engine visibility option stucked as Discourage search engines from indexing this site. When I uncheck this and press save, it is back as checked when page reloads after saving.

I have tried turning off all plugins, using default wp-config file, 2020 theme. Still the option is checked and noindex tag is being generated if you view source.

I have temporarily added a duplicated meta tag in website part start and before . This is done to encourage search engines to index it. Not sure if this will work or not but I really need to uncheck that settings > reading > Search engine visibility option.

I launched my site today and this warning is still on my wp site dashbord:
Warning: All In One SEO Pack has detected that you are blocking access to search engines. You can change this in Settings > Reading if this was unintended.

On my wp site dashboard I knew I’d have to uncheck the Visibility box after deactivating the Under Construction plugin in order to make my site live. So I did that straight away. However, it is still displaying the above Warning. I keep refreshing and pushing the save changes button on the Reading page but the warning is still there.
To clarify: In Settings-Reading I have the SEO visibility ‘discourage search engines from indexing this site’ box UN-Checked. So it should have taken care of all this, right? Does it take 24 hours for changes to take effect?
Also, I noticed that in my wp.com account dashboard in Marketing-traffic: sitemaps – I can’t turn on the ‘Generate XML sitemaps’ So I wonder if there’s a connection?

For some strange reason a noindex meta tag keeps being inserted in the header of all my static pages. Posts don’t have this problem. I already checked Yoast SEO, disabled all plugins, all themes and even got rid of the robots.txt that I had. Still no dice.

How to Bulk edit advanced options

Hello,

I have around 200 products that I need to edit in the advanced section of Yoast. These are products for registered users only and I need Yoast to not make them available to search engines but Yoast’s automatic setting is to make it available. It would take way too long to go in and change this individually. Is there a way to change the search engine visibility option in the advanced settings in bulk on my products? Thanks.

Our village hall site is not viewed by many people, but we do add all hall bookings into Events Manager.
I have noticed that we get a huge amount of hits from worldwide search engines, which are really not needed.
People do not search the web to find out when a specific instance of badminton takes place.
They will search for the Badminton page and then look at the diary to see when the sessions take place.
Is it possible to set a global flag (a bit like the one in the general WP settings) but just for events, which says “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”.
I know its not 100% effective, but it will hopefully reduce the number of hits we are getting.

Using Yoast SEO on a WP Engine site, and get this warning:

“HUGE SEO Issue: You’re blocking access to robots. You must go to your Reading Settings and uncheck the box for Search Engine Visibility.”

I then go to my reading settings, and try to uncheck the box for Search Engine Visibility that is labeled “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” and click Save Changes and every time the unchecked box will not save.

I can’t figure out what is going on in a clients site. Randomly, the Search Engine Visibility box gets checked. THis is very disruptive for SEO.

1) Does anyone have an idea on how this box would randomly get checked?

2) Is there a way to keep this permantely on via functions.php?

Comments after "Load more comments" are not visible on Google search results

Hi,
I had recently opened a topic for this subject, and I was glad for the answer given. However, when I made a test, I saw that the comments loaded after the “Load more comments” button are not visible on search results.

There are 53 comments in total and the maximum comment thread is set to 15. So, after the 15th comment, the others can bee seen by clicking the relevant button.

Now, search the phrase “Keske türkiyede yedek parca temin edebilece?imiz bir yer” which can be seen on one of the latest comments. It’s OK, it is visible on Google search results. But, try the phrase “merhaba ?y? gunler bende bu urunu sat?n almay? dusunuyorum” which is the oldest comment. It is not visible on Google, but it was, when all the comments are shown at one time (though it is visible on Bing at least for now, because I installed the plugin 4 days ago, Bing may not show it if it reindexes this page).

I get nearly 30% of the hits from clicks related to the comments. I really love wpDiscuz. Could you please find a solution for this problem? Yes, one of the solutions is setting the comments show limit to 999 etc., but then there will be no reason for me to use wpDiscuz.
