Yoast SEO doesn’t let me disable Pinterest Rich Pins.

All my personalized Pinterest Pin titles and descriptions are replaced with data from my website. It seems this is caused by Rich Pins. My website has the appropriate data for Rich Pins, but I don’t want this overriding my pin descriptions that have specific keywords and tell the user what they’re looking at. So I want to remove the Rich Pin data from my Pins.

Pinterest’s developer documentation says I can remove Rich Pin data by placing a tag in the section of my pages. How long does it take for the change to become active on Pinterest, because it still looks just like it did before I added the tag. I tried to create some new Pins and cleared my caches, but to no success.

Then I found this code in the source of my website, which disappeared immediately when I deactivated the Yoast SEO PlugIn:

So I suspect it has something to do with Yoast, although I can’t quite figure out how to disable this within my Yoast settings. The Pinterest tab in the Yoast settings only lets me add a verfification code for my website.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi there,

I did search the forums first and I found a handful of threads where a similar question was asked, but there was never any solution and then the thread just timed out and got archived.

I am referencing this guide for rich pins. My site is validated already, Pinterest says I’m good to go. However, the pin description that is getting pulled into Pinterest is my excerpt, NOT my metadata description that I am entering via Yoast. From what I’ve read I thought what you enter into Yoast is supposed to be the information that gets pulled for rich pins? My excerpts are really long. I only want those to show up on my blog page archive or post grid carousel blocks. I want the data I put into Yoast to be what shows up on my pins.

I contacted Pinterest. They said this is “expected behavior. Rich Pins automatically sync information from the associated website, not the meta description part, so the edits will need to be made in the web page rich Pin metadata”. Are they saying that Yoast has no bearing on Pinterest at all?

I think I’m clearly missing something, I appreciate yall’s help.

I have read every post I can find on this and still can’t figure it out. I am a food blogger trying to apply for rich pins. When I test out a recipe url, I get a notice saying I have been approved for rich pins, but when I go to formally apply, I get a red “!” next to: ” Has qualified Rich Pin Data Type”. When I scroll down, the only field with a red ‘!” is “authors” – but I do have authors activated on my recipe cards.

Can I confirm that Yoast is feeding pinterest the correct data somehow?

Any ideas?

Author and date Published Missing in Rich Pins

Rich pins not working & product pins show as “article”

Hi,
My rich pins haven’t worked since I switched Woocommerce theme over a year ago (presumably it doesn’t have output for product schema). I’ve got OpenGraph activated in Yoast, and my website is claimed with Pinterest and I’ve validated my URL.
If I click “claim site” it comes up with a different code to the one I’ve got in my yoast settings. I don’t know changing to that code would mess it up even more, as that might be claiming a new site.
In my profile, I was listed as blogger, from before I launched the shop. I updated this to ecommerce store. But it’s not changed my pins (I created a new pin to check).
My husband says on his phone (in browser) my product pins show up as “articles”, so I’m not sure if Pinterest is categorising them as the wrong type of rich pin.
Do I need Yoast premium for rich pins to work? Nothing I’ve read so far seems to indicate this, but someone from Yoast did mention that at some point.
Can someone advise please on this?

When I go to Pinterest Rich pins validator, after entering my URL, I get a message ‘Your Pins have been validated! Apply to enable your Rich Pins’ with an Apply now button.

On hitting the button, I get an error message ‘Missing Fields.’ When I scroll down I find the error is at the Authors field, which shows:”–“.

I have furnished the Facebook profile in Yoast tab. How to rectify this error ‘Missing fields’ now?

Metadata not showing up in Pinterest Rich Pin

Hi, I’ve been trying to set up Pinterest Rich Pins for my website using Yoast SEO metadata.

I’ve edited the Google Preview snippet to include a metadata description but when I try to validate my Pinterest Rich Pin and then pin the image, nothing shows up in the image titles and descriptions.

Is there somewhere else that I can change the post metadata or any other way I can resolve this issue?
