]]>i’m not a full-on backend person; sorta curious how media is replaced with file of new extension (eg, .png to .webp) without destroying the path. any insight appreciated.
]]>the replace media button only directs me to my wp library, not replacing the image in anyway after choosing at all, only inserting the image without the prior properties, see video for documentation: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/video/5576344?key=614ab02bec2572706dbe96fa1b242f21
Thank you,

]]>for eg:
I have all images in one folder and if I want to upload all image to the media then it will create a new media instead of replacing the media with the same name.
Is there any way we can upload multiple images and replace the one with the same name that already uploaded?
Thank you.
]]>The plugin leaves your captions, titles and alts as they were, which gets rid of most of the hassle associated with image replacement.
]]>I have been using it to replace images that were heavy with lighter ones, and it works like a charm!
However what I have noticed is that it only replaces the full size file that was uploaded, not the images sizes created by the theme. So I have a original file that is lighter, yet the thumbnails from the original upload are half the dimension but double the weight.
Is there a way to replace all files including original upload and wp thumbnails included?
I have tried regenerate thumbnails, but it doesn’t work as the image dimensions are the same.
The only thing I could think of was to replace original with your plugin, change thumbnail sizes, regenerate thumbnail size, change size back, regenerate again. I don’t think this is the best way or if it will even work, so I wanted to ask the person that know a lot about this process.
Btw the reason I dont just delete and upload from scratch is all the meta tagging I would
lose on 500+ images.
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
]]>If I use this plugin to replace the images is there any redirects going on so that they do not lose traffic (Woocommerce site so important) please?
Just to clarify I am planning on swapping the existing huge pngs for the same images in optimised jpgs.
Best regards,
Angela
I have two humble feature requests:
1) It would be awesome, if it was possible to replace existing media (keeping the filename). Say, you update a PDF file with phone numbers. If you upload a new version, you’ll have to replace all the links to it. It would be much easier, if it was possible to replace an existing media file.
2) Sometimes media gets uploaded with stupid filenames. Photos from cameras for instance. It would be cool, if it was possible to rename the files, automatically replacing the links in posts etc to it and thus improving SEO and manageability.
Other plugins exists for this, but I prefer keeping the number of plugins to a minimum if at all possible, and these features would be a welcome addition to Enhanced Media Library
Best regards
