Automatically schedule expiration date on another connected post

Hi,

I’m building a WooCommerce site where every product is tied to another post, a custom post type called “Video”. I’m trying to set an expiration time/date on a video, which works fine, but then I’d like for the connected product to also get this same expiration date from its associated video.

Is this possible to do? I’m fine with custom coding if necessary. The WC product and video CPT are connected with the ACF “Post Object” relational field, if that helps.

Mario – congrats on your piue=]rchase of WP-CRM. Having been around CRMs from the very nascent stages going back to Enable in 1980 and many products in between then and now. i fond WP CRMs to be lacking from a relational standpoint. In other words, linking one user to another. Most other non-WP CRMs have that feature out of the box so to speak as they are built on relational databases. Is this a function of WP that prevents this relational structure?

Options for Relational Custom Content Type and User Interface

I’m a long-time Drupal user hoping to convert a site to WordPress. Biggest sticking point is a custom content tool and I’m trying to determine if this is something that can be created in WordPress without any coding (i.e. exclusively through plug-ins).

This is a web site for a board gaming event. The feature is a list of many board games (i.e. board game content type) where users can mark a) Which games they are bringing and b) Which games they want to play. Ideally, they can do this while looking at a table of this data by simply clicking buttons. They can then also click a game to see exactly which users are bringing and wanting to play each game. (the first table just displays how many are bringing and wanting to play.)

I’ve seen several plug-ins for creating custom content types (i.e. Pods), but they don’t seem to provide a front-end. I see the Visual Composer might provide that, but am unclear whether it can provide this level of functionality. In Drupal this is accomplished by creating the content types, creating “Flags” for “want to play” and “bringing”, and then the Views module creating the front end for users to interact with the data and flags.

Is this something that can accomplished in WordPress purely through plug-ins? If so, are Pods and Visual Composer the way to go or is there a better solution?

Performance of nested shortcode

First of all big thanks for this plugin. I consider it the best framework for building database apps in WordPress. It’s really great.

I have recently wrote this nested shortcode which is reffering to diffrent forms:

Unfortunately, I’m struggling with performance issue (it requiers more than 15 seconds to render), as my cf7submit table now reaches like 100000 records. I would like to ask if you see any possibility of speeding up this nested shortcode. Unfortunately adding unbuffered option even slows down its performance. My data changes often.

Relational fileds

I have a question about setting up relational fields.

For example I use field 1 with the follwing values:

– A
– B
– C
– D

If I choose A in field 1, I want field 2 to display the following values to choose from:

– VV
– TT
– LL
– 55
– BB

If I choose B in field 1, I want field 2 to display the following values to choose from:

– HH
– PP
– FF
– WW
– JJ

Is that possible? And also easy to use as search fields, which displays a pulldown with values based on the previous field?

Build additional category function

Hello, I am building a website that has extensive custom content types – I’m using the CCTM plugin. The site is essentially a database documenting research. I need to be able to make relationships between custom content types and for them to be links. I find that WordPress’s native category and tag functions perfect for this – but I need essentially to have more than category plugin – because to dump everything into the native categories (using hierarchies) will not give me enough distinction.

EG. the site documents videos. Each video is analysed paying attention to sound, image and if there are things like onscreen text. So Ideally I would a “meta” category for each of these. But I also need to make other distinctions, so for example – who made it, on what topic, its mode of address, whether it the video is argumentative, analytical or poetic. If I were to dump all this stuff into WordPress’s category function it will become too messy to create relationships.

So my question is:
Is it possible to duplicate WordPress’s category function and call it something different? And if so what would be the best way to do this?

Or does a plugin do what I need? I have searched for them, but I can’t find anything that fits the bill.

Need Advice: Services by State

I have a client that needs to display products with attributes, where the “products” are actually US States (alabama, wyoming, etc.) and the “attributes” are actually long copy descriptions of various service offerings within each state.

I’ve setup a custom post type called “States” with each state as an individual post, and complete long copy for each service included with each state. Obviously that’s a lot of work and lot of redundant content.

My next thought was to use another plugin to insert post content via shortcodes, where each shortcode references a specific post (i.e. service) something like this…

-State A
–[shortcode service=1]
–[shortcode service=3]
–[shortcode service=6]

-State B
–[shortcode service=2]
–[shortcode service=3]
–[shortcode service=5]

This let’s me edit the service descriptions only once, which is a vast improvement. But I’d still like to improve the process.

Ideally I’d like to have a one-stop-shop (i.e. plugin?) to create products (“states”) and assign attributes (“services”) from a single admin screen, and then have a drop-downlist of all the available products (states) in my main menu.

I know I’m asking a lot, and what I’m looking for probably doesn’t exist exactly as I want. But can anyone point me in the right direction?
