]]>This is useful information.
But this could be “not just information presentation”, but could also be used for a “process”.
A clock icon, similar to the one used for “Last Activity”, could be placed to the right of the forum name that is to the right of the “In” icon.
One the right side of this clock icon could be a down arrow icon.
The function would be similar to the following;
The down arrow to the right of the clock, shows a drop down list of all the forum names (and if subcategories exist, then maybe those names too).
The user, or moderator, can then select a forum that the topic is better suited for.
The clock icon, when clicked, will show a drop down list, of previous forums that the topic has previously been located at, and then moved out of.
This functionality is very useful for situations where a topic has been created, and consequently considered to be better situated in some other forum.
Rather than a topic creator being told to go somewhere, and therefore having to repeat their effort at that location, the topic can be reallocated the correct forum location, and proceed to engage others within the correct arena.
This performs the function of a friendly receptionist, helping direct visitors to the right place.
The clock icon listing of the history of the topic’s forum locations would be useful for seeing what is being moved around but not handled, and what is being moved around to cover the topic which may involve input and considerations from experts from a diversity of forums.
Aside additional benefit
In relation to a suggestion for improved search feature(s),
this parameter could be used to specify a search to be limited to topics that only match this parameter, or selected items on the list of this parameter.
If a search is done with this feature, then the following behavior is observed;
a) the search can be sorted on the basis of “date” or “relevance”
b) there is no readily apparent “advanced” mode
c) there is no readily apparent method to restrict the results to the topics within a the particular forum of the page that the user is at
d) there is no readily apparent method to restrict the results to the topics within any particular forum.
Consequently;
a) there is a very long list of results.
b) the relevance is not always helpful
There is no way to “refine” the search other than to repeat it with adjustments.
There is no way to “handle/process” the results.
Some suggestions, any one of which may be useful if implemented on its own;
1) allow the search engine to be limited to within a forum
2) allow search listings to show a check box for selection, so topics can be added to a users list to form a group of related topics, for reading.
3) make use of category methods if possible
4) allow any easy to implement method for making use of tags, forum topic labels, and/or “category of forum” information for use as search filters.
Anything that can be done to improve the search function, will make the system so much more efficient for all users, and will help to identify related, and similar topics.
An offshoot benefit is similar topics could possibly be grouped into categories later, or allocated special tag names so they can easily be added to and built upon.
This would help create some order and provide better functionality to the users of forums.

]]>I am looking to create a blog of photos/products that can be refined via search on the main page. Say, for example, I am a hair stylist and I have a portfolio of different hairstyles that I want my potential clients to be able to search through. I would like them to be able to simple check which type of styles they want to look through. Options could include Short, Medium and Long styles; Braids, Bangs and Up-dos… Is there a way for someone to be able to filter medium hairstyles with braids, for example?
I wonder if any plugins that do this exist and could be compatible with this theme.

]]>I have run into a problem when integrating the ajax load more shortcode into my category page template for woocommerce. I have implemented it fine for the shop front (archive-product.php) when displaying all products, however when I choose a product category (which i’ve defined to cat-archive-product.php) from my menu, the catgeory displays all my products instead of refining the results. I tried something like this but didn’t seem to get anywhere with it:
<?php
$cat = get_category( get_query_var( 'product_cat' ) );
$category = $cat->slug;
echo do_shortcode('[ajax_load_more post_type="product" category="'.$category.'"]');
?>
Any help would be much appreciated. Also, Im working locally so nothing to show you, sorry.

]]>I’m wondering if there is a way to refine terms within a gallery. For example, I have a gallery that features Blue nail polish, and within that gallery, I would like people to be able to narrow it down so it just shows blue glitter nail polish, etc. without actually having to do a search (maybe a drop down menu on the page?)
This is the blog I’m working on and I have my galleries listed in my menu:

]]>If I have the following categories:
Category One
Category Two
Category Three
Category Four
and I only want Category Two and Category Three to be visible in the dropdown list? Is there a way to do this?
If not is there a workaround?
We have categories that should only be visible to teachers and other that should only be visible to students. Without the ability to create multiple calendars, categories seem to be the obvious workaround? Unless there’s something else I’m missing?
Thanks
