I’ve come up with several names for a new blog I plan to start but all are taken, three by persons who have created a blog and not written a single thing on it. The blogs have only the automatic ‘this is a post’ and ‘this is a comment’ items on them and are effectively abandoned. I would like to use the URLs. Is there a way to redistribute a blog URL to another WordPress user? If so, is there a way to do this without requiring any effort on the part of the abandoner, who may well have stopped responding to the linked email account, let alone blog comments on an abandoned blog?

Hi,

So the basic idea is to have a system like wordpress.com… I want to host blogs for my local football team. They must be able to generate a blog if they want to without me having to do anything. They can change the theme and blog titel and that’s about it.

So, is there anything like that available?

Any help appreciated!

I want to make a wordpress package for the capoeira community due to the “Capoeira Viva Edital” (Contest).

1. What it means “distribution conditions are different”?The original package change but will be distribute with analog name (wordpress capoeira v.01) under the same GPL terms.

2.Is there any problem with the relation of that content package under a contest (with prize)?

3.Is there any problem with this package re-distribution under the same GPL terms (just change name-content-options)?

I know that it would be easier to design a new theme (3 special capoeira-based themes will be re-distributed in this package if possible) but I want just to develop all the final “site” for the potencial users to make them easier change the default-preinstalled content and options.

At last…

4. Is there any problem if I include an afiliate link to a hosting company in the readme/instructions.file as this abreviated example:
– Buy a domain
– Install the software
– Manage your content…

Pulling First 100 or so words from a blog

I’m currently trying to integrate WordPress into a XHTML environment. What I want to do is place is small blurb of the most recent Blog post from one location.

For example, my WordPress directory is “/blog” and the index is the usual index.html. I want to have the first 100 words from the most recent blog post appear in on the index page.

I think that’s simple enough to explain what I’m trying to do, finding a solution is a different answer.

hi, I absolutely LOVE wordpress as a blogging solution, and I would like to use it as the blog section of a content management system I am developing, but I would like to know the legal stuff of doing so.

first of all can I use it? can I charge if I sell the cms system? do I have to supply all my code when I distribute it?

any and all information on doing this would be greatly appreciated.
