ALL of the sites use Google’s reCAPTCHA v3 with dismal results. The sites all generate this error: “Bots will not be blocked until the reCAPTCHA settings are set properly.” Despite repeatedly generating new site/secret keys the problem persist.
According to Google an email notice that there is a problem with their reCAPTCHA is suppose to be sent, but not one has been received. This makes me think that iTheme’s Security Pro doesn’t play well with reCAPTCHA.
The problem has been reported to iThemes, but they will only deal with the problem if, and only if, I purchase their Golden Maintenance Support Plan. It’s something that I would agree to if they would refund their fee if the problem turns out to be a problem with the plugin. They flatly refused that offer. To me, charging a customer to fix a broken plugin is nothing less than extortion.
One way or another it is a problem that needs to be resolved.
Can someone at iThemes please share why they feel that the problem is not with their plugin and what can be done in order to eliminate Security Pro as the culprit causing the problem.
]]>Since the utilisation of recaptcha 3, our forms are not working. But they work if we delete the recaptacha integration.
When we try to use receptcha, all users can read the failed message : Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method. If we delete if, all message are sent.
Thanks.

I need urgently help for my customers site… Please help me fast. Using the actual WP and CF7
*additional info*
in my db i got a new field in the form values naming: “g-recaptcha-response” it is filled out and look correctly?! but the cf7 just save’s the contact form but not sending out a mail which is very important cause my customer get the uploaded logo file from that way … :/
I’m no expert at all this (hence using plugins to start with!) so please bear with me.
Firstly, since the Recaptcha 3 update I have been receiving spam messages through my contact page, which seems to indicate that Recaptcha isnt doing its job. I never had this problem with Recapcha 2.
Secondly, the form has now stopped working altogether, just giving the message: ‘Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method’
Looking through the forums I’ve seen the second issue mentioned several times, but with no fix and also no input from the author.
It only came to my attention when a prospective client e-mailed instead and mentioned the problem, I’d not have known otherwise. I have no idea if I have lost business or clients through this.
Does anyone have a fix or would I be better off just getting a different plugin?
Thanks all
]]>Part of the WordPress philosophy is that you should always update your plugins and that you can trust the updates. This debacle shows that you can’t always trust updates. With such a drastic change and the requirement that you generate and install new keys from Google there should have been a strong warning before the update was installed. You can’t really complain about free stuff but this is ridiculous and the author has been of no help.
I scrapped this plugin and installed Wpforms lite with Recaptcha V2 and my contact form is now working fine again. Don’t trust Contact Form 7!
