Blank White Screen on Homepage

Home page is white screen since one week ago. Even in editing during customization, home page does not appear. All other pages and posts appear. Error log says as of Feb 23 “Error while sending QUERY packet wp-db.php”.

Recent changes: new blog post, Pinterest verification (adding file into file manager), uploading new widgets which I have now deleted.

I just updated to latest WordPress version, and it did not fix the issue.

After talking with 3 tech support, the issue is still not resolved.

The third guy changed my website to another theme without my permission thus in resulting in losing all my plugins, including my backup plugin. Now when I try to install plugins, it says “Installation failed: could not create directory”.

I am getting this error on aprox a half dozen websites – all started last week. All on the same host (InMotion). Things worked fine, no configuration changes (on our part) with the plugin.

InMotion tech support has been no help only to say if we set up a job for the entire website but use Tar GZip VS Zip it works fine.

The people who own these websites like the .zip format because it is ‘familiar’ and easy for them to use. Tar Gzip is not so intuitive for the average WordPress user.
