I have read the “Before you post …” thread but didn’t find this scenario, so I am posting here in the hope that this is not the wrong place.

Let me start with that I am not a developer, I have managed to solve problems and figure things out, but I am nowhere near the as knowledgeable or experienced about WordPress as I should be. I have installed a few instances in localhost. I have also started an online site with a free theme to test my understanding of SEO and to experiment in a live environment.

After six months that site has gained some popularity getting about 8-9K views in a month without any functionality problems. I would now like to start a few different projects/sites in different niches, to test my promotional and marketing skill, hoping that at least one of them will gain enough visitors to be able to boost my income, so light commercial in nature.

To avoid a headache in future if some of those projects live to be two or more years old I think premium themes are the right choices for such projects, if not for anything else, then for the updates, patches, support that companies give and that can be useful if something seriously goes wrong at some moment. I would choose one of those companies that have the option of a one-time payment for a lifetime membership for unlimited sites. With two/three sites it would have almost paid for itself at the start. I do not know if I have enough knowledge/experience to know what I should be looking for. Can you give me some directions?

My price range is to about $300. I have seen StudioPress, but they are above my price range, and would not choose them if there is not a damn good reason to choose them and only them. Other ones that I took interest in are Tesla Themes ($299), Modern Themes ($99), Team Bear ($239), Visualmodo ($259), Aspen Grove Studios ($399-10%). Modern Themes seems like a bargain, am I missing something?

Premium Themes didn’t transfer from .com to .org

Last spring, I started a website on wordpress.com. At the time of creating my website on wordpress.com, I signed up for premium themes for $99/year. Shortly after, I realized I wanted to switch my site from wordpress.com to www.remarpro.com (Hosted by Bluehost. The domain remained the same). However, after switching it to www.remarpro.com, I tried to access the themes from my premium package and no longer had access to them. Instead, it now shows me the option to sign up for it, but I already did sign up for it when I originally began creating the site. How can I fix it so I can use themes from the premium package on the www.remarpro.com version of my website? Thank you in advance for any help!

Removing extra spacing in theme

Hi all, I downloaded the Indus theme which is working pretty well but can’t figure out how to get rid of extra spacing above where it says “Clients”

Any ideas on what I need to add or change in the CSS file to fix the spacing issues here? This is a premium wordpress theme, but the support is not great, and docucmentation is not straight forward at all so haven’t been able to reach the theme designer to get their assistance on this.

Premium Themes not working?

Hello! I tried this plugin on Thesis 2.2.3 with the Classic Responsive Skin and on Genesis 2.3.0 with the Mindstream Child Theme, and neither seem to show the drag and drop boxes like shown in the plugin screenshots. So far I have only got it working on a site with Genesis 2.3.0 with the Pretty Creative Child Theme.

Are there known compatibility issues with these premium themes/child themes/skins? The documentation states “You can use Tailor with any free or premium theme.” but are there caveats?

Thanks for this plugin, I am looking forward to digging in more. I appreciate any help you can offer.

i recently discovered that i can pay $120 to wordpress for access to their premium themes for a year. as opposed to buying one theme at a time which is very expensive. What i want to be certain of is, if i pay that amount, can i download the themes for use on my other websites or am i restricted to using it just for the site i bought the access from. If i can download to use on any site i am working on it will be reasonable, if not then there is no point paying for that access. Also will the themes be renewable every year, will it render usage obsolete on the website after a year or will i simply just need to resubscribe, please anyone with information on how it works, please share.

There seem to be a lot of “grey” areas on this subject with no clear authoritative answers or guidelines. (at least not that I could find).
I would like to do this correctly the first time.

When developers create a premium paid version of a free theme that users can upgrade to…

1. How does GPL licensing work for paid themes?
2. Can developers protect their work from piracy (within WordPress guidelines/requirements)? If so, how?

The only solution I can think of is to use activation keys.
