So I decided it would be good to set a preferred domain name on my site in google webmaster tools. I changed it this week so that the non-www version of smellslikeinfinitesadness.com would be the preferred versions.
It looks like everything is redirecting, but I noticed that on the non www domain name in google webmaster tools it said to submit a site map. Now I had one on the www.version (https://www.smellslikeinfinitesadness.com/sitemap.xml) , and I had all but 5 pages of my 225 pages indexed. But if you clicked on the sitemap it was a blank document. But if you removed the www from the sitemap name it looked fine.
I thought I read it was okay to submit multiple site maps anyways so I submitted a new one to my preferred domain https://smellslikeinfinitesadness.com/sitemap.xml
Well I woke up this morning to see that only 75 of my 225 pages are now indexed on my new sitemap and my old sitemap seems to have disappeared altogether.
So, my question is, am I in trouble? Will I start to disappear from google search results? Will my backlinks go away and will my pagerank drop?
Or is this just a normal process and things will index properly?
I’ve worked so hard on my blog the past year and a half, and now I’m getting decent traffic, building back links and showing well in google search. To think I may have to start from 0 because of something stupid I did makes me sick. Perhaps I should’ve just left it alone since I’m so technically ignorant.
Sorry for the long post, but any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

]]>I tried to set preferred domain for my blog in google webmaster.
My blog address (set under Setting -> General) would be ordinarygirl-goestravel.com
But when I choose that address in google webmaster, it said:
Part of the process of setting a preferred domain is to verify that you own https://www.ordinarygirl-goestravel.com/. Please verify https://www.ordinarygirl-goestravel.com/
How can I perform the verification for the www version?
I have tried to look my wordpress dashboard and could not find it.
Thanks before

]]>I have added my website PhonesTabs.com to Google Webmaster Tools. Earlier I added using the non-www domain, but I recently changed the preferred domain to www, which has affected my site’s indexing. I have both the domains added to the Webmaster Tools for now.
Do I have to delete the site with preferred domain phonestabs.com from the GWT? Or do I have to keep both the version added to the GWT? I want to keep the www as preferred domain because the non-www version never gave me any reports on crawl errors or warnings, which I can only get in the www version. I have same sitemap added to both the domain versions in GWT.
What should I do to get back my site in the Google search engine results? Can this plugin help me in this situation? I have it installed on my site. Please help.

]]>I’ve been maneuvering through the settings of my host/wordpress. I was wondering if there is any difference between including <www> or just using <https://>
an example would be https://www.themodernaesthete.com
or https://themodernaesthete.com
Is there a difference?
