I’m building a website for a client.. The website will only accept PowerPoint files to be uploaded in our server by our future members and soon we will start accepting online links.. I would like to ask for your help. We need to show the first slide of the PowerPoint file as the thumbnail preview image post without asking our members to upload .jpg files for the featured image. We want to automate the process.. by not making .jpg files from each PowerPoint files submitted to the website..

Treating uploads as if they were posts

This question is different to a similar question that’s been asked before.

I would like to upload a file, give it a title and assign it a category; and then have the file treated as a post when it comes to link lists and menus.

E.g. Recent Posts would list the title of the file and the date it was uploaded, the same as any other post, and clicking on the link would open or download the file (instead of opening a regular WP post page with a link to the file or embedded file).

Can Download Monitor (or another plugin anyone might suggest) be made to do this?

Preview not available for PPTX file exported from Google Drive

Hi!

I have a PPTX file created in, and exported from Google Drive.
I have another one created by my client in MS Office 2013.

The one created by my client works in Google Doc Embedder.
The one created by myself in Google Drive gives me “Preview not available”.

Is it possible that both have a different behavior, or different data? I notice that my client’s “real” PPT file’s icon is an actual preview of its first slide in my Windows 8 folder. My PPT file created with Google Drive has a generic PPT icon instead.

Any more info on this?

Click on a jpg thumbnail and open a PPT presentation?

Hi All,

Using WP twentytwelve, I will have 15 thumbnail jpgs posted on the page.

I want a viewer to be able to click-on any of the thumbnails, and someway they view a PowerPoint presentation associated with that thumbnail.

The PPT can play automatically, or it can be a viewer-activated slide show where the viewer clicks on a forward arrow to go to the next slide.

It would be really perfect if the PPT opened sort of in a light box, on the same page. It’s pretty important to me that the viewer stay on the same page, not open a new window or a new page (so they can click out of the PPT and select another thumbnail to click on to watch).

I uploaded the PPT to MSOneDrive, and can get an embed code to place the PPT in an Iframe, but dont see a plugin or a way to accomplish the above goal from OneDrive embed.

Thank you for making this plug in available. This was recommended since I am building my site to sell e-books. I see you speak of PDF files. Is there a way to convert my PPTs to PDFs without ADOBE, or will this plug in accept the PPT files?

Nice plugin, but as of now I can only use it to show YouTube videos. I’ve tried PDFs and PPT files, but they dont show. Don’t know if this might be significant, but my OS is Ubuntu Linux. Here is the test page with the examples I got from your plugin:

I am developing an intranet site for a company and looking for a plugin or some sort that can make doc. ppt. xls. files viewable (and editable if it’s possible) on a browser.

Also, all files are stored locally so shouldn’t be publicly accessible.

Is there a plugin like that ?
