Post restrictions / Private entries HELP

Hi!
I was using PostLevels on wordpress 2.3 and the PostLevels plugin to restrict entries to registered users.

now I upgraded to 2.5 and the PostLevels plugin is still working but it doesn’t show the excerpt and title to unregistered users anymore.

I am looking for a solution or even an alternative to this.

I need to be able to have private entries but still let my readers know that there is a new post by using an excerpt or at least a title.

any help would be much appreciated

Batch set custom field

I need to batch set every one of my posts to have a certain custom field set for them. The field would be ‘post_level’ to restrict access to every one of my archived posts to, say, level 2.

Can someone please tell me what I would have to run in mysql to accomplish this?

Let’s say I want to set every single one of my 1500+ posts to be at post level 2 so as to control access to them with the post levels plugin.

How do i do that all at once without much fuss?

Does the post with level higher than ‘public’ are visible for crowlers (ie. googleBot) ??

I’m using WP 2.0 and the newest release of the Post-Levels plugin. I had a new user register and she was given an upgraded user level. When she logged in she was, of course, taken to the Dashboard and could see the five most recent comments, with one of them being a comment on a post that was on a higher level than she should be seeing! I have a test account for myself, which is set to the same user level as regular members (2, the post was published at a level 4) and I can see it as well (through the Dashboard)!
