Unable to post featured image

I’m a new user and new blogger, new to everything. I’m unable to upload images to the site, except by pasting the URL, which also means I can’t add featured images. The message I get in response is:

Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/sites/14/2016/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

What should I do?

Linking images with the post on homepage

Hello folks…

I am trying to make a blog (using wordpress). But, I want some changes in the index page (or homepage)..

I want just the images to show up on the index page of my blog and the titles on those images.

The images I want to display should be the first Image I post in my blog entry.

In short.. I want my blog’s homepage to be like this one :-

and when someone clicks on the Image.. They should be redirected to the posts itself….

I know it’s one big task to be explained.. just a few hints would be good enough ^_^

Attaching images to post

I’m having major issues attaching images to posts as ‘main images’ and as ‘featured images’.

I can upload to the media library but when I click ‘insert into post’ it doesn’t, it just reverts back to the text box in the editor.

I thought it was just my wordpress but I write for another site and the same is happening there too.

Anyone any ideas what the issue is please?

I’m assuming it’s something to do with my computer settings rather than the wordpress theme/version as they are different for the two sites I write on. I’m running Chrome if that helps at all.

There's got to be an easier way to insert images

I’ve had this issue from the get-go. I don’t write code, I just use the simple page building tools. (insert photo gallery, add text, etc) I’d like to know how to type a dialog of text, then insert an image or two, then add more text, then more images, and so on. It’s like jumping through flaming hoops to do this manually – there’s gotta be an easier way! Currently half the time, when I go to insert additional images, after I’ve already typed up my blog, the image get inserted above my main blog post, and YES, I am mindful of where the curser is at. To add additional images I need to re-create additional ‘galleries’ even though I’ve already uploaded all of the ones I’d like to use. If I add all of the images at once, WordPress doesn’t seem to permit me scooting any images down to make room for text in-between the images. Help! I’m so frustrated! And thank you…

Post Images Stretching Vertically in IE

Hello!
I’m using the Fresh & Clean Template. When I insert images into a post, they look perfect in firefox, but when in internet explorer they have been stretched vertically just on the post’s page. They show up fine as featured images and when you click on the image from inside the post, it opens in a new window at the correct aspect ratio.
I’ve done a bit of research on google, but had no luck. Anyone know an easy fix for this? I wonder if it’s an issue with the theme itself? Thanks so much!

Images and links question

Hi there i have a very basic question and probably cant see the woods for the trees. anyway……

Making a site and want the front page to have 4 categories with pictures, a bit of writing (say running books, so a picture of a load of books and some writing saying “check out our book selection”) In wordpress what is the easiest way to do this?

So far ive tried just adding an image and some writing, but if they are left aligned then the writing doesnt stay spaced for the next picture down.

Ive tried alternating the alignment, but they look all squashed and again the text doesnt stay with the picture it should be near

Ive looked at easy content units, but you can only use the merchants there, and ive noticed there is more selection in amazon if i go to their site rather than via ECU

Ive tried adding images as a gallery, this would be ideal but it doesnt seem to let you link to another page on your site?? I assumed if you change the link url in the gallery settings then the url that you put in would be the one it links to, but this does not seem to be the case

Any suggestions? plug ins? or am i going the wrong way about this totally??

Facebook Connect / Disqus and ability to post images/videos

Hi there—

I’m wondering if there’s any type of commenting system or plug-in that allows users to log in either with WordPress, Facebook Connect and post text or code such as embedding youtube videos or images.

Right now we’re using Disqus, and so far it seems like it’s only good at posting text (but not links, images or videos.)

Help on posting images on the sidebar (all users)

I’m very new to WordPress, and this is the very first theme I make. I have been experimenting with posting images on the sidebar, and I’ve done it using the text widget and then just adding each image manually there. It works, but it’s probably one of the worst ways of doing it: only the admin can edit this file (I think), it’s not very user friendly and it gets deleted every time I change the theme.

What would be the best way to do it? Ideally, I’d like every user to be able to post images there, just as if they were writing a regular post.
