…over the years I have had a number of sites (somewhere between 10 and 20 now) of the many that we manage where the backwpup plugin is removed from the db, but the folder remains.
We delete the folder and re-install – it is an infrequent but repeating issue.
It is not the only plugin that this has happened to – of more recent times Elementor has been another one that also gets removed – usually at the same time, though not as often as backwpup. Almost all of our sites have a standard set of premium OceanWP/Elementor/MainWP plugin combos as a base set, and most of them never suffer this issue. It could be another plugin but there has been no consistency among the additoinal plugins that aren’t used on many other sites
The last round of this happening seemed mainly to be after the WP 5.6 update but I may be wrong about the timing.
]]>I had been using your fantastic plugin for some time. Few days ago I noticed that galleries are not showing up. When I logged into the admin/dashboard, I could not even locate the plugin, I have no clue what happened or what I should do? When I tried to re-install the plugin, I am getting message that “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.” I checked the file manager and see relevant directory, I renamed, but still same error. Any suggestions? Thanks
]]>After upgrading Events Calendar Pro (today Feb 11 2020), it has disappeared from the panel and the website. But still appears in the list of plugins.
There is a message at the top which says “to use the Events Calendar Pro install the latest version. When I try to do that, the next message says that installation failed because it is already installed.
I have inactivated it and reactivated it in the plugin list. But it makes no difference.
I have tried to install the basic Events Calendar. But it also says that it is already installed. But this plugin does not show up in the list of plugins, only Pro does.
I can’t find a recent thread about this problem.
What else can I do? Please help…
Kind regards,
Elisabeth
The Wordfence (premium) plugin simply disappeared from the admin panel.
The reinstall failed with the error “Directory already exist”
I have the automatic update activated for this plugin.
Before removing the target directory, do you have any idea to help investigating what’s going on ?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards,
Jef
]]>Regardless of how it disappeared from my plugins page, my specific question is now that it’s hidden, how do I safely and completely remove it from my site? Can I just delete the plugins folder on my web host, and if so wouldn’t there be tables in the database as well? Is it safe to just delete those?
I’ve never learned to be totally savvy with how plugins work, so my fear is that the plugin could have inserted code into other files in my WordPress, outside of that plugin’s folders, and that it will break my site if I remove the plugin folder and database entries related to that plugin to “clean it out”.
Any infos appreciated, thanks!
