Is it possible for players to register themselves, assign themselves to the correct teams etc?

I was wondering if there is an add on or plugin for user registration whereby a link could be sent to the registrant with their registrant number when they register?

This would be sent via email. Do you know of a way I can implement this or something I can add to this?

The leaguemanager plugin says, user registration is possible with two other plugins (ProjectManager and Role Manager).
I wasn’t able to. So could someone please post a how-to. That would help me a lot.
