How do you control how often search engines are pinged?

I have a concern with the search engine pings. For example. I don’t want my blogs pinging search engines five times when I click “Update” five times on a post within 10 minutes, etc. This could make search engines see you as a spammer.

How do I control this to only ping 1 time every 24 hours or 48 hours even if I click “Update” ten times in that period.

Just curious to know if the Custom posts for ads get pinged when they are created or edited?
As standard I read that only posts do in WP, is this also true for custom ones such as ads in your plugin?

Need option to stop automatic pinging of search engines

The plugin needs a checkbox to disable the automatic “pinging” of search engines. We need to stop it from constantly updating the XML sitemap in Google/Webmaster Tools.

It could also be made more clear on the Yoast documentation that this happens, what happens, and when. Since the general options were removed for Yahoo and Ask, nowhere inside the plugin itself is it clear that this automatic pinging is happening either.

Can't Edit or Leave "Update Serives" Blank, Help!

Hello everyone
I would like to leave the “Update Services” field blank but, it’s coming again when I tried to clear it. I’ve also tried to edit it but, still no luck.
I don’t wanna get pinged because, every time I update any post or page, the “Title” and “Meta description” is automatically changing to something else (which is in update services). I’ve spent so many hours on this, but of no luck to clear it or even I can’t edit that text. Is there anyone having the same issue? or Can anyone help me, how to do this?

With the pinging services built into WordPress, how often and when does WordPress ping Google and other Search Engines?

For instance, when I post a new blog, does it ping right away after publication? Or wait a bit? Or when I update a blog, does it re-ping the search engines ASAP?

I entered a couple of URL’s for trackbacking and it said they were pinged.

What does it mean when the URL’s you trackback to get pinged? Is this a good or bad thing?
