Replacement Theme for Photoria

A friend’s website uses Photoria, which is no longer available or supported. Neither of us is a developer, but it seems that it makes sense to replace a dead theme. Several things broke when I did the latest updates to the plugins and to WordPress, but turning off error reporting and adding a Custom CSS plugin made the site appear to be okay.

The site is not very complicated, so I’d think that there should be many current and supported themes that would work as well or better. Has anyone here successfully replaced Photoria with another theme that you would recommend?

I keep getting this — Init failed: Galleria could not find the element… in the top left corner of my page after a couple of seconds of it loading. The link to my website is here

I have tried to figure out how to solve the problem but I have had no luck. Please advise if you know how to solve this issue.

Features Images not working after updating WordPress

Hi!
I recently updated WordPress from 3.3 to 3.9.1 on my website www.pythagoras.net. I’m using the Photoria theme. Since then, the featured images on the homepage do not work anymore.
I already tried the following things, but nothing worked:

turning off all plugins
uploading the images again, resetting the tags ‘featured’ in the posts.
adding add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails' ); to the functions.php-file in /public_html/pythagoras/wp-content/themes/photoria. (from this forum thread)
Replacing the jquery.js file in /public_html/pythagoras/wp-includes/js/jquery with an older version, found here. I read this solution in this forum thread.

If I look at the rendered html source-code, all looks fine, I can see the images, and I can see the javascript code.
Help!

I dont know much about code and had some freelancers from freelancer.com edit the site to my needs.

Now however because the site is so heavily edited I cant update wordpress to the latest version, my slickr flickr plugin has apparently been edited to, so I cant update that either.

I would like a new theme that is similar to the current look of my site, but one that I can update. Does anyone know where I could find this or tell me what they would do in my shoes?

slider issue with Photoria – jquery error

I think due to jquery updates in latter wordpress versions (now with 1.8.3), the slider within the Photoria theme (from wpzoom) is no longer working.
I have pages established with featured images and this was working, now with recent updates only the first image displays (others are pre-loaded and hidden by the css) but the auto/manual scrolling next/previous does not activate the change or show the other images.
In the console I can see an error;
Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [object Object][rel=’2′]
But can not find where this is activated or what to modify to correct the problem.

I have installed Photoria https://www.jomotteram.co.uk/ but cannot for the life of me get it to look anything like the demo. https://demo.wpzoom.com/?theme=photoria
Pretty much all I have managed to do it set up 2 navigations and implemented them, created a page for each menu item but here are the issues I have……..

1) I created a page and called it ‘home’ so that it would appear in my navigation, but this is not the same as the actual home/ landing page of the site so goes to the wrong page when clicked – how do i get my home navigation to actually go to the home page?

2) The theme has a big slider on the home page, however there is no images in this and I am not sure how to get images into it….cannot find anything in the dash board

3) Under the home page slider I want 3 images with a header and a bit of text under it – i don’t want these to be latest posts, I want these to be constant.
I would have thought I would just create 3 posts however there doesn’t seem to be anyway of getting those posts onto the home page.

4) I want a potfolio / gallery effect on some of my pages. I have used the gallery option but there doesn’t seem anyway of changing the style /size of these gallery items or putting a description with them. Not sure the gallery is the best thing to use here?

5) In general, how do I get posts to sit on a particular page? Or should I not be using posts? I can seem to put them in catagories and but cannot see to assign that catagory to a specific page?

I’ve looked at the reading material related to things like posts but it tells you all about how to create such things but not how to link it all together…could do with a step by step guide really.

Not sure if its me or whether this is just a poor theme

Hello I′m trying to figure out, how I can darken the Area in the middle of my blog. The Background image is just fine, but for the Blog area it′s too light.

Theme is PHOTORIA

I want a 20% – 30% transparent black stripe a little wider than the Blog from the top to the bottom of the Blog. If it is possible in css, I′d like the stripe to blur the background a little bit, so it is less confusing to read the text.

Hi, I’ve installed WP-WPZOOM-Photoria template, no problems so far, but I want to know how to chenge de Number of “Recent Posts” showed in the home page. I have 7, I want to change it to 9 but I cannot find it in the configuration.
