Parked Domain created after clone

I created a subsite from a template site in the same network. So I think before creation of the website the subdomain was not added in CPanel and when I created the site above it added the subdomain as a parked domain.

Is that a correct behavior for the plugin, does it create a parked domain instead of an addon domain if the domain is not configured in CPanel? If yes then how can we convert it back to addon domain and not lose any work done?

There is disagreement among the dev team, and online literature also contradicts one another, or does not state clearly.
The question is for non-master domains, where must they reside on the server, and how are they “linked” to the master domain.

Some say the other domains must be sub-directories in the public root.
Some say multisite only works if they are parked domains that feed off the master domain.
Some say they must be sub-domains of the master domain. (eg. sub.this.com).
Which is it?

This is what we want: sharing the same information architecture (DB, images, plugins, themes, etc) and design elements – all the websites use the same resources. But, they are accessed as independent websites with their own domain customizations.

So the first installation did other domains as sub-directories of the public root. The Master site (of course higher up in hierarchy) works perfectly – – all images in the master site. But the other domains do not pick up plugins, or even have access higher up to access images.
Is the problem the directory structure, or is it some code somewhere that needs to point to the other domains.

We have tried about ten different suggestions thus far in our troubleshooting effort.

Some insight will be much appreciated.

Hi,

For some reason I have had a reoccuring issue that visitors to my website who click on any links to posts/pages/categories/tags are redirected to the generic cookie pop-up. This then redirects to a parked domain version of my own live website.

This does not happen if you are logged in as the admin or have an old cache of the website, flushing permalinks or updating htaccess only temporarily fixes it, I have tried reinstalling and checking plugins one by one. I have tried calling my hosting provider and have been trying solutions up to an hour with them.

It’s really beginning to do my head in as it is wrecking my rankings and UX.

I had primary domain (example1.com) in Usercode/public_html. I had WordPress multisite under parked domain (example2.com) in Usercode/public_html. I had child sites under example2.com/mobile, example2.com/cp, and example3.com (parked domain of example1.com)

Then I did many changes:

Created subdomain main.example2.com and moved the WP multisite to the main subdomain in Usercode/public_html/main and created new database. At this point every thing in multisite worked fine.
I added domain example4.com and make it the primary domain. This is on folder Usercode/domains/example4.com/public_html.
I moved example2.com as addon domain, that make the domain to have its own folder Usercode/domains/example2.com/public_html.
I moved example3.com as addon domain, that make the domain to have its own folder Usercode/domains/example3.com/public_html.
Moved the data from Usercode/public_html/main to Usercode/domains/example2.com/public_html/main.
At this point I verified my WP multisite and the example2.com, example2.com/mobile, example2.com/cp work fine from wp-admin and site-pages, but example3.com did not work.

Another detail is that example2.com and example3.com as addon has ssl certificate. Attempting to fix WP problem I moved example3.com as parked to domain example2.com but still has WP problem and plus lost the ssl certificate.

I hope there is a way to edit some file to fix the path reference to the example3.com site.

2 old sites are parked domains

I have converted 2 old websites to a new one. I was using CleanTalk for each of the old websites. The old sites are now parked domains or aliases, which are both redirected to my new website.

Since the old sites’ pages are not directly accessible, since they all point to the new website, is it suitable to discontinue monitoring of the old sites?

I will still use CleanTalk for the new website, but I don’t want unnecessary coverage.

I currently have 2 domains: the main domain .com and a parked domain .ro, both with the same dns, on the same hosting
when I access the main page of the parked domain .ro, there is a 301 redirection to the main page of the main domain .com, all the other pages don’t redirect from the parked to the main domain.
I have requested the hosting company to check on the reason this is happening and their reply was this was due to wordpress setting.
“The redirection from .ro to .com is caused by WordPress configuration in ./public_html/. At the moment, the configuration is installed with the .com URL, so any parked domain will redirect to .com”
Have you ever came across this situation before? I have never encountered or heard about such a problem related to parked domains/aliases on www.remarpro.com.
What can I do?

Hello,

I have a website with “.com” but recently I but another domain wth “.ir” and I pointed this .ir to my main website. but when I type mywebsite.ir in browser, instead of being directed to my main page, I am directed to a wp-signup.php page with my new domain name added as new user!

I use wp multisite too.

Is there anyway I can fix this problem?

Move parked domain or amend URL first

I’m changing the URL of my wordpress site to one i currently have parked with bluehost. I want to know if i should ask bluehost to change the parked domain to my primary before or after amending the wordpress URL settings? Thank you karen
