Hello,

This is an awesome plugin idea but I can’t get it to work.

I have a widget on the “parent” site called “Learn More”. It is a Visual Editor Widget by Black Studio TinyMCE Widget. It in i have some text with short code.

I need it to display on the “child” site …

I have created the same widget there and given it the same widget title and told it to Pull widget from another site by checking the box. I chose the “parent” site in the dropdown and hit save. It saves but does not keep the name of the parent site in the dropdown. It defaults back to the name of the child site.

Any ideas what is going on??

Hello,

I can’t get this to work. Could you please provide better instructions.

1. I assume that you network install this plugin. It doesn’t say.

2. The 2 screenshots don’t tell much. One is a widget on teh main site and the other is the setup to pull widget data from another. Does this work by the Widget title that you give on the parent site and the “child site”? Do they need to be the same?

3. What is the process of creating a widget on the “parent” site so that it can be called upon on “child” site?

Maybe you can do a video explaining how this works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, at the top of my site paretosway.com there is a page titled ‘espanol’. I’d like to link ‘espanol’ to my other site es.paretosway.com. How do I make it so that when you click on ‘espanol’ it takes you directly to that other blog – es.paretosway.com? Thank you in advance.

how to exclude add-on sites from back up

My main website folder includes several add-on websites, and the back up space is more than 400Mb. So I’ve installed the plugin Online Backup for each of my websites separately.
Now I want to exclude these add-on sites from the backing up of my main website. I put the website names to exclude in the “exclude box” of the settings but it doesn’t work.
Back up still includes all the sites folders.

We’re setting up a new network of sites. The owner of the network wants to have both ‘example.com’ and ‘example.co.uk’ going to the parent domain.

WordPress Multisite has been installed in example.com as a subdomain install and this plug-in has been installed and configured.

The domain mapping plug-in does not allow domains to be mapped to site 1, so it’s not possible to add ‘example.co.uk’ as being mapped to site ID 1.

Is there any way to get example.co.uk to map to example.com when example.com is the parent of a multisite network?

From reading these forums the answer seems to be either ‘no’ or to use “define( ‘NOBLOGREDIRECT’, ‘https://www.example.co.uk’ );” in wp-config.php – which we could not get to work. Maybe we missed a step.

Is there something clever we can do with setting redirects in cpanel, editing zone files, or perhaps something else entirely we can do to achieve this?

It seems very typical for an organisation to want a parent site that has a couple of top-level domains pointing to the same place. I look foward to finding out just how easy it is when you know how.
