I found the “Case-Insensitive Passwords” plugin which can make login passwords case-insensitive, but didn’t seem to work for my page-level password. It’s also six years old and didn’t seem to get much use, so I can’t imagine the author is super keen to update it.
So… Have I missed the plugin that exists to do this? And if not, where do page-level passwords get stored? The best answer I’ve gotten to this question is “in the database”. If someone can help me narrow that down, I’d appreciate it immensely!

I’ve looked for a way to send the Password for a Protected Page to someone that requests it if they are included in a list of existing email addresses (not registered users), such as the list of email addresses in the plugin ‘Participants Database v1.2.1’.
I’m hoping someone has created a plugin for this that I haven’t found yet. Or maybe this is simple enough with a few lines of code.
I’m new to all this; any help is greatly appreciated!
]]>I’ve created and populated a page and previewed it and it’s working fine. However, when I manipulate the ‘visibility’ options from ‘public’ to ‘password protected’ + a password, things begin to break down.
If I navigate to the page, I’m greeted with a prompt, much as I’d expect, that reads “This post is password protected. To view it please enter your password below:”
I input the password, hit submit, and I get nowhere. It simply reloads the page in the same manner, asking for the password. It makes no difference if I input no password, the wrong password, or the proper one – same result – page reloads, prompts for password.
I’ve tried reverting back to public visibility and trying again with a different password and I still encounter the same issue. I’ve tried creating test pages and test posts to experiment with it, and they are all misbehaving in the same manner. I’ve tried disabling my two running plugins (Google Analytics and Shockingly Simple Favicon) and the issue still persists.
I’ve tried in various browsers (my default is chrome), I’ve ensured I’m attempting it while not logged in to my admin by browsing via incognito mode. Still the same issue.
I’ve tried exploring other threads stating the same issue, but failed to come across a solution that helps.
I’ve created a sample test page to demonstrate the issue:
https://www.daltonink.ca/password-protected-test/
the password for that test page is set to ‘secret’
screenshot of the password settings: https://i.imgur.com/32zFZ.jpg
After exit and return to the site the page requires a password only once for either a logged on administrator or a not logged on user. IE
on WEB SITE exit and return a password entry box and the word “protected” are missing and all data has been displayed.
This is true for parent as well as child pages.
If I restart my computer the password is required.
I must be missing something somewhere. settings, etc
Thanks in advance Bob
