How to override template?

Can I override the template file for single event posts?

I know I can make some changes via CSS but I’d like to edit the structure a little.

Many events on Facebook don’t have all the information that this plugin is designed to display, which leaves the Event meta table taking up the whole width but for just one column.
I’d like to move the meta details into a sidebar with the Title, image, description and map in the main section.

I tried copying the template file into my theme folder, but it didn’t work? ie
https://website.example/wp-content/themes/astra-theme-child/import-facebook-events/templates/ife-event-meta.php

How do you override it? BTW I’m using a child theme for Astra

CNN Style Page

I want to design my page to look like CNN style news channel but need advise on how to accomplish this goal. Top header, with scrolling text. Right bottom corner with a combo of photos and video playing and taking up about 75% of the screen. Left side photos scrolling up taking 25% of the screen. The videos and photos need to automatically scroll as this page will be used as a kiosk display.

I have a really nice mock up but couldn’t attached it; therefore, please see the visual below:

At the moment I have this link in a page. I was wondering if I should paste the content into a blog instead. If I create a category for each year and a sub category for the months in the year than I could put them in a sidebar for quick access. I would have an anchor link for each month so if a visitor wants to go to June of 1997, it’s just a click away.

Does this option make sense or is there a better way of setting this up.Each year would have its own blog page listing the show playlists along with the WordPress audio player. I want this to be as simple as possible for me to maintain. At the moment, the link above contains plain text(which I love) along with the WordPress audio player code for each show.

Sidebar Longer than Content

Hi
I just created a new category where there is only one item, for now, it happens that the content is shorter than the sidebar.
Can you fix this kind of situation?
Of course I can wait until more items fit in there and this problem will go away.
I understand that there some plugins that fix this, but I will not go there.
But anyway it would be a great addition to the theme.

Footer widgets not appearing in the right place

So this theme lets you customize your page footer with three vertical columns for widgets. Problem: I stick something in the second column because I want it centred and it pops up in the first column! Only way I can get it to appear in the second column is by putting something else in the first column, which defeats the whole purpose.

I tried gaming it by putting an empty text widget in the first column, and it sort of worked, but not quite. The widget I want appeared … well, maybe a bit closer to the middle of the page, but not centred. WTF?

Using CSS on a single page

I am relatively new in WordPress. I would like to make one of the pages have a certain design and positions of images using CSS. The WordPress text editor allows me to write HTML but how can I use CSS instead of HTML to create a certain look such as using float, and, a table where I can use terms like border-image etc. Where do I write the CSS codes? Is there such things as CSS design?

Now Elementor basically does the same thing as Adobe’s Indesign, only for web pages instead of print. Now the Scribus app does the same thing as Indesign, only using XML. One thing you can do in a print page layout app is link text boxes together. In the case of Scribus, you place two text frames on a page, click on the link text frames tab above the editing, then click on the two boxes one after another. The XML for this is:

There is some more code used to put the above into action, but given that Scribus is open source software it shouldn’t be that hard to get it from the Scribus people.

My purpose in posting this is to encourage you to add this text box linking feature to Elementor because some of us out here can see a good reason to link separate text boxes so that the text will continue flow between the two without having to mess with cut and paste. As when having to adjust the size of one box, which could lead to having to cut and paste again.

And yes, I’d like to see the feature so I can implement a few ideas of my own.

How to design all Pages Like Post

I am using ColorMag Theme by themegrill. I want to design all the other pages in my webiste like a post page. Such as Front page: slider Area, Front Page : Area beside Slider, Front page: Area Top section, Front Page: Area middle section. Can anyone guide me for the same.
