We noticed that exporting an event into Outlook 365 or Outlook Live stripped the links from content. In Google Calendar export those work correctly. I tested that just adding a/href tags into the body of the event worked, so there should be no technical limitations why links should be stripped from Outlook export links.

I’m experiencing intermittent issues with WP Mail SMTP plugin when using Office 365/Outlook as the mailer. Some users encounter a “Your submission failed because of a server error” message upon form submission (by pressing “Enter”). The form data is successfully saved, but the email notification is not sent.

Environment

WordPress Version: 6.6.1
WP Mail SMTP Version: 3.9.0
Host: World4you

Observations

The issue occurs sporadically and is not consistently reproducible.
Form data is successfully saved in the database.
Email notifications fail to send when the error occurs.
In the Plugin Dashboard, I get this message -> cURL error 7: Failed to connect to graph.microsoft.com port 443: Connection refused

Questions

Has anyone encountered similar issues with WP Mail SMTP and Office 365/Outlook?
Are there any known conflicts between WP Mail SMTP and specific form plugins?
Could the hosting environment (World4you) be a factor in this issue?

Can’t embed MS Outlook web calendar in WordPress

Back in 2017 we embedded our corporate calendar in our WP site. It is a normal Outlook calendar on Microsoft 365. It all worked fine for years. The calendar on our site was always updated from the 365 one. Now it does not work. Meanwhile we are setting up a new site, and I can’t embed the Outlook calendar at all. WP just reports that the content can’t be embedded. There is a list of sites that can be embedded, and no Microsoft site is on it. What has happened? Microsoft support has no clue as to what is going on. Can I only do this by installing a plugin? I didn’t need one before.

When attempting to authorize my Outlook account, I receive this successful message:

“You have successfully linked the current site with your Microsoft API project. Now you can start sending emails through Outlook.”

However, the button below continues to display:

“Allow plugin to send emails using your Microsoft account.”

The connection previously functioned but required a reset due to the expired token. However, now the connection cannot be restored.

I was actually researching form plugin options (Fluent Forms) when I stumbled upon FluentSMTP. I’d been using a different SMTP plugin for years, but the plugin only allowed configuring the basic generic SMTP option provided by the host. FluentSMTP has many more standard provider connection options. I am now able to utilize Microsoft 365 for my SMTP provider. Form submission is snappy and happy on my site thanks to FluentSMTP. Also, the FluentSMTP documentation is excellent. Great job FluentSMTP team!

aberrant Read more button size and font in Outlook desktop

I’m trying to use WordPress posts in the exerpt format with a Read More button that takes you to the website. With the default settings the button looks good in any email client, but in Outlook 365 for Windows the button is much smaller. Only the upper half of the word ‘Read’ fits in it. The font also looks different, probably bold. By adjusting the size of the button and font I can make it fit in Outlook, but that results an oversized button with a relatively small font on other clients. I’m seeing this on 2 sites, with different themes.
