I have installed this Now Reading plugin, everything is fine except that it does not recognize my Chinese input. So it does not support utf-8. How to make it work? I try to add the following code to the plugin, but with no avail.
Please help.

My website has some Chinese characters. The SQL database is utf-8 friendly. I have no character encoding problems until today after I installed this plugin called Now Reading Redux for book reviews bloggers. The plugin provides a easy layout of book thumbnails and with a click for writing book reviews. However, in the box for book review writing, when I typed in Chinese characters and published it, all the characters become question marks.
Is this a problem of the plugin or my SQL database? I double checked my database and my SQL seems to be utf-8 ready. How can I make my plugin recognize Chinese characters then?
Thanks so much!

Can I have Now Reading link in horizontal menu? And next to it Now watching? How can I do so?
Can I display somewhere only current books, current movie section?
Thank you,
R.
I can search for books via the integrated Amazon search. When I find the book I want to add, the plugin takes me to the ‘Not Found’ page instead of adding the book to the DB.
Reading through the comments on the download page above, not everyone is having this trouble, so I’m wondering if anyone had any ideas.
Thanks

1. Is there code to put into 1 Blog Theme’s post page and sidebar to show Disqus. The plugin is integrated into my dashboard.
OR
2. Is there a way for the Now Reading plugin widget to show on the Black Lucas theme?
OR
3. Is there a working alternative to Now reading someone can recommend?
As you can see, the title tag of this page is just the standard name of the blog. It would be nice to have the name of the book and the author in the title tag, so that search engines would find this page much better.
In the example of the “Now Reading” plugin, it calls <?php get_header(); ?> on top if the page. I think the question not only relates to this specific plugin but more to the question “How can I change the title tag in a custom page?”.
Sadly, it doesn’t appear to be working with newer versions of WP–and the author’s site (https://robm.me.uk/projects/plugins/wordpress/now-reading) hasn’t been updated in months, as far as I can tell.
Does anyone know anything about it, if the author or someone else is planning on working out the bugs?
Alternatively, are there any similar plugins for maintaining a list of books/reviews on my site? I use GoodReads, but I’d really like something hosted on my own site. I wonder, is there any way to display my GoodReads library on my own blog?
I can install it, activate, and search for books, but when I try to add a book, I get a 404 error while Now Reading is trying to execute /now-reading/admin/add.php
. According to RobLog’s support page, there have been a lot of others with this problem as well. His recommended solution of resaving permalinks seems to helped some, but not all.
I have tried deactivating all of my plugins except Now Reading, I’ve tried switching to the default theme, removing all widgets, assigning full permissions to world to add.php, and combinations thereof. I’ve used PhPMyAdmin to drop any tables that contained any references to the plugin or its options. I even moved my site to a new server and rebuilt the site from scratch, and it still gets the same error (that’s how obsessed I am with figuring this out).
It looks like Rob’s not too motivated these days about this plugin, but perhaps someone else experienced this and figured out a solution?
Here’s some info about my server:
WordPress 2.6.2, installed in root
Linux kernel: 2.6.26.5-grsec
MySql: 5.0.51a-community
PhP: 5.2.6
Apache: 1.3.41 (Unix)
I’m loathe to give up, but I think I’ll be packing it on soon.
Thanks for any advice.
HB
