]]>Basically, I want to create a completely new site on this domain and need to change template and content to start completely fresh. I guess that means deleting everything, maybe even setting up a new account?
PS. I have not done anything with this site for a couple of years.
Your advice is much appreciated.
]]>So I have just taken on a new client. They would like their WordPress website to be hosted by myself rather than their previous designers (they shut down).
But, I have encountered a large problem. We have no access to the host or back end of the WordPress administration account. My client does not know the username (or even if they had one) or password for the WordPress login.
I have mirrored the website so we have a copy but of course, when mirroring, the wp-admin does not come with the files.
We can prove ownership, as we own the domain.
Can anyone provide any suggestions?
]]>As a plugin developer I use this plugin quite often –
a) I ask my customers to use it when I need temporary access to their website to troubleshoot an issue.
b) I also use it myself to provide temp access to other plugin developers on my test websites when I am working on an integration between my plugin and other third parties and need their assistance.
Avoid the hassle of manually creating a WordPress user, and having to put procedures in place to remember to delete it, so the security of your website is not at risk. This plugin allows you to automate all of that in an easy way.
Create the temp user, specify an expiry time and send the URL to the recipient. Job done! Can’t get easier and more secure than this.
]]>I have an odd idea that I’m trying implement in my local WordPress site. I’m trying to figure out if I can do something to authenticate non-admin users without checking their password?
Goal: I want to be able to let people in with a “valid” (if exists in the database) email only. I could care less about the password, I can still keep the password field there to make them think they are providing a password, but the idea is to let people in if their email matches the same email as the database. To avoid any unwanted admin access I want to have the password to matter for Admin group.
Is this something I can build on my own? I development experience, but just wanted to see if something like this is possible using the default WordPress functions.
