Seeking: Help to Setup Theme in WP Dashboard

Seeking: Help with installing ‘X’ theme to WP. Am a newb to using wordpress and am looking to install the zip file as instructed. It is not accepting it (at the WP dashboard area). Please any help on this matter would be much appreciated.
Just to clarify:
Have installed WP to my hosting service and initiated the ‘dashboard’. Have purchased the template I wish to install. Have downloaded zip file and ‘unzipped’ it also.

And I quote:
‘2. The Roll Up Your Sleeves and Use a Little Elbow Grease Method: Uncompress the provided .zip file and upload the template contents to the /wp-content/themes/ directory of your WordPress installation via your chosen FTP client.’

Do not understand the step ‘upload the template contents to the /wp-content/themes/ directory of your wordpress installation via your chosen FTP client.’

Forgive the basic questions but, FTP client would imply the ‘host’?
Feedback is much appreciated.

Help with Existing Web Site

Good morning,

I built a website about two years ago with iWeb on hostgator. I lost my iWeb during a OS reinstall. Apparently, Apple has eliminated iWeb from their apps. I was advised to work with WP. I down loaded WP and it automatically updated my existing site for WP. I can’t bring up the site to add updates when I click on the “Customize Your Site” button.

Anybody have any ideas?

Please realize that I’m not super computer savvy… so be gentle.

new child theme help

Hi Everyone

After searching around found i have to create a child theme to do some more things that i cannot do with the theme actions for the SKT Full Width.

Question – as i have modified the theme actions doing this child theme will i loose everything i have done so far

Sorry new to this but will give it a go got the videos up how to do it just need to know if i will screw everything up i have modified so far

Page Editing Gone Wrong

hello.
Idk if this is a theme issue, but I need help editing my pages.

I am using the deeds template.
I have 3 pages on the home page that have a ‘read more’ button right under all 3 of them.

Whenever I press edit and write a descriptions, all 3 pages change with that description.
In other words when I add content to one–it automatically adds to the other 2.

?? What am I doing wrong!?

Blog Updates Not Working

Hi,

I recently just moved from Blogger to WP, so I am very new at this. A lot of my readers have contacted me saying that they no longer receive my blog updates.

I know from using my blog reader on Blogger to leave comments on sites that I follow via GFC, that a few bloggers who have moved to WP still come up on my blogroll.

I also want to make one thing clear, I know that Blogger/Google did away with GFC a while back, however for those blogs that had already had GFC, this feature still fully functions.

Now, a friend mentioned about my RSS feed through Feedburner. I followed the steps for updating my feed (which I think I did correctly) but my feed is still not updating for my blog friends who are on Blogger.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this?? Thank you!

Oh, and if you need to know, my site is LivingtheGourmet.com.

To Buy or Not to Buy a Theme?? Opinions!

I am new to WordPress and like many, the task of choosing a theme has been very difficult. What makes it hard is I am new to learning and am unsure of how far you can take a free theme.

In your opinion,
– what are some of the most customizable Free Themes?
-Are things a whole lot easier (esp for the newbie) if you just purchase from somewhere (elegant themes?genesis?etc?)

For my site, I am going for a site/blog hybrid (aka doesn’t look bloggy).

setting up and hosting question

Hi, I am a complete novice to wp so this question may be really obvious to some people. I am a freelance front end designer and I have a client that would like me to set up their wp site. I have purchased a theme from themeforest and want to set it all up now. My client will be hosting the site through their companies hosting provider, however for the initial set up, tweaking and testing what is the best solution for me. I do not really want to host it directly on to their server while I am setting it up as I do not want to mess anything up. So if I use my hosting provider or a third party one can I transfer all the info, tweaks and amends once I am happy with the site to the companies server without having redo anything?
