within the editor it is visualizing negative margin settings correctly, but outside in normal view it does not work.

Trouble with margins in Twenty Twelve widget sidebar

Hi!

I’m editing a child theme of Twenty Twelve.

I would like to the titles of my sidebar widgets to overlap the top of the widget area, like this site: https://www.un-fancy.com

I’ve tried adding

.widget-area .widget h3 {
    position: relative;
    bottom: 10px;
}

similar to the above website. When I increase with the “bottom: 10px” amount, the blue outline of the widgets on my site just shift upwards along with the title, keeping it inside. It’s been driving me bonnnnkers for the past month & I’m desperate.

What am I missing??

Blank Divider with Negative Margins

Hello. I am working on a website, howtotraveltheworldguide.com, and my pages have a large space between the menu options on the text of my pages. I was told I can use blank dividers with negative margins to get rid of this space, but I can’t figure out how to make blank dividers with negative margins.

Can somebody help me out with this?

Background image that overflows beyond the content area

I am trying to position a spiral as background image that “floats” outside the boundaries of the page width. I have positioned it using css with a negative margin, but the part of the image that is outside the page width doesn’t show up.

I have created a child theme that’s based on the twenty eleven theme. The body and the #primary div already have different background images so I have been trying to position the spiral using the #page div.

I have thought about floating the spiral, but I need it to be a background image layered above the #primary layer, but below the content of the posts.

Negative margin extends beyond browser window

I’ve created a child theme for twenty eleven and I’m trying to make one of my sidebar widgets extend to the edge of the browser window. So far I’ve managed to stretch it out a little by using a left margin of -15% but if I try to increase the margin size, the widget extends outside of the browser window. Does anyone know if there’s some kind of code I can add to prevent this from happening?
