Hi Everyone –
Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I’ve been teaching a class called “Web Design for Artists” for a few years, and I finally converted it to an online class. The class uses WordPress to create portfolio-style websites for artists, musicians, bands, etc.

I would love to spread the word about this, and especially if this community has any ideas for other places I could go to promote it, I would love to hear them.

I spent a month making all of this content for the class, and I’m pretty proud of it.

Discography question

Hi,

I’m new to the forums, I’m a musician that makes music and puts out projects that I would like to display on my website. I know that certain themes have discography plugins built in, but I’ve changed themes so I really want to make one of my own. I’ve searched “discography” on these wordpress forums and I’ve seen posts about people finding some way to make a table for it, but no one has explained the process. YouTube, Google, Bing, WordPress support, etc. all have the information on it, but either it’s outdated or they don’t really explain the process of creating a discography.

Creating Multiple Artist Bios and Galleries

I’m looking to create an Index of popular artist, that will link to a brief bio and set of images for each musician. For example on Last FM, when you click on an Artist (example, Coldplay) it gives a Bio section for that artist with a Carousel type gallery. I’m only looking to create brief, very short descriptions for each artist with only a few pics per artist. However I don’t know if I would need to create a page per artist which probably wouldn’t work to well since there are more musicians than I can count. Is this even feasible to attempt in WordPress? Will this slow down my site significantly? Any help would be much appreciated.

My WordPress Custom Theme, but has glitch

I have developed several WordPress themes, and recently launched my own music solo project, and built it on the WordPress framework. I love the site all except one thing.

I’m using AnythingSlider for my large slider in the header. There is a brief, quick “flash” or “snapping into place” of the slider when the pages load. Try it for yourself, you may have to visit several pages, but it will snap. It’s driving me nuts.

I tried many fixes, various overflow hidden/auto changes and still no go.

Can anyone share an idea why this snaps into place?

I’m building a social network for musicians based on Buddypress, and I’ve tried a bunch of different plugins to try and get a player that will play songs from SoundCloud from other people’s accounts. Essentially, I want members of this network to be able to listen to the music of other members, but I don’t want to have to upload those songs to the Media section myself. Suggestions?

Audition/Contest plugin

Hey!

I’m making a website where bands can open an audition to get new bandmembers. For example, a band opens an audition, and musicians can submit a video audition so the band can pick one.

But… I actually have no idea how to do this.
I was thinking about making 2 types of front-end users:
– Bands (who only can start auditions)
– Musicians (who only can submit video auditions)

What is the easiest way to do this?

which is kinda nothing and nowhere

Any idea how to fix this?

I am trying to find the best possible fit of a plug-in for a directory to add to my website. This directory will be music-based so Bands, Artists, & Musicians can sign up. Currently I’m using the Business Directory for WordPress. I’ve come into several issues including inability to customize. But the major issue is that when I try to enter a band’s myspace in the organization website category it states that the “website is not a valid URL”.

Any recommendations beyond this plug-in, or ways to make this plug-in work effectively?
