It doesn’t work in the subdirectory when the install is a clone of the main WP in the root. It doesn’t work in the subdirectory when I installed a new out of-the-box WP and just have SLR as a single plugin in it.
My main WP install with SLR which works is located in the root folder of eg. www.example.com
My second WP install with SLR which doesn’t work is located in the subdirectory of eg. www.example.com/test
I am using Sky Login Redirect version 3.3 and WordPress version 5.6
Could you tell what’s wrong?
]]>I run a website selling sports lessons in the UK. We are looking to expand the venues we have to include some in Sweden.
If i wanted to do this, which would be the best way?
WordPress multi site, one English one Swedish.
WPML, translate the lot. but does this create duplicate pages in the selected languages? or just serve the content in the selected language?
I have used a translation plugin and managed to translate the test version of the website, but need to minimise the chance of an English customer buying a Swedish event. So if the pages are all on the same domain i dont know if this would suffice.
I dont want to go through the whole set up of multiple sites or languages though if it is not worth it for 2 websites if i can just simply translate the pages.
Although this part is plugin related, i run Event Espresso on the website which is limited to one currency. The translate option would be cheaper as i would need to buy extra licensing if i ran multisite or multilingual.
I think my main questions are, as anybody done something similar? anybody who has used event espresso to run events and has found a way to work around the limitations of the plugin.
I have asked on their support forums about this, but they say it is not a simple feature request.all i wanted really was to be able to assign two currencies and select the one for the country where the events are held. its gone from translating a website to possibly running two websites that do the same thing.
Any input/suggestions/peoples experiences with this would be very much appreciated.Even just a couple of links to tutorials!
Thanks in advance,
Phil
PS. I know there is a multisite section on these forums, but it says if you’re not already running a MU install then thats the wrong forum. With wordpress being open source i couldnt find a ‘Pre sales’ area.
]]>I guess my problem is that I set the original site up in the webroot directory, so when I went to set up my second site, it had to have www.domain/root to get it to show up on the web. I spoke with GoDaddy and they explained that I will need to find out how to install WP to a subdirectory, but then I thought that I would try to figure out how to do it properly, because I will need to add a couple of sites over the next little while, and I would like it to be as organised as possible.
My question is, how can I move my site out of the root, and into a subdirectory, while still being able to just type in www.changethetopic.com, and to also have any other sites accessible by just their domain names? Is this possible to do, or should I just leave www.changethetopic.com in the root directory and worry about the other sites as I need to?
]]>I am trying to create a website with two main tabs. clicking on tab1 would have theme1 (with a menu bar) and clicking on tab2 would have theme2 (with another menu bar). I read about how to have multiple themes in one website. I am not sure how to separate them by tabs. I am a beginner when it comes to webdesigning and wordpress, would appreciate if someone could guide me in achieving this.
I would be happy to send the picture version of what I visualize the website to be, if there is an email address to send.
thanks abunch.
here’s what i did and what happened. then you can advise how to fix.
0. running WAMP
1. extracted wordpress zip and copied it to two directories, like so:
– client1/blog
– client2/blog
2. created databases for both clients with PHPMyAdmin like so
– c1_site
– c2_site
3. created a Log/Pass for each database
4. edited the wp-config files in each of the client’s blog directories to point to their databases and relevant log/pass.
5. ran client1/blog/wp-admin/install.php with successful result.
6. ran client2/blod/wp-admin/install.php and got this error:
ERROR: PHP NOT RUNNING
< a full two pages of additional text including ‘it appears you’ve already installed wordpress’ >
so. three questions:
1. what the hell happened? of course PHP is running!
2. how do i fix this and get client2 installed and running so i can develop for them
3. if i switch to a single database with different table prefixes, how do i move it from local testing server to production server: extract only relevant prefixed tables and upload to client’s server DB?
i’m eyeballing multisite, but again, i don’t see anything on how to migrate it out to separate client’s. this looks more like something to support a bunch of sites pointing to a hub rather than a development platform for multiple wordpress clients…
thanks for your time.

]]>I tried to find an existing topic on this particular problem, but I couldn’t find it, so here’s my thing:
I have run my website www.sophieholterman.nl for a year now. I sell selfmade clothing on it, but I’m studying Graphic Design and since I have to apply for internships this year, I need a website with my graphic work on it. I thought it would be nice if www.sophieholterman.nl would be an introduction page, with two links: one directing to clothing.sophieholterman.nl, and one directing to graphicdesign.sophieholterman.nl. That means I have two subdomains, and they both need a separate WordPress installation (right?). I use DirectAdmin, and I have already created new databases for my subdomains, but I just can’t figure out how to install WordPress on them. I tried uploading all WordPress files in the subdirectory (in public_html –> clothing), but it didn’t work. Then I tried to upload the adjusted wp-config.php file only, since I already have the rest of the files in public_html (for the main website). I tried a lot of other things, but it keeps saying:
Not Found
The requested URL /wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.22 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.22 OpenSSL/1.0.0-fips DAV/2 Server at clothing.sophieholterman.nl Port 80
… when I try to run the install script.
I’m having hard times with reading/learning all those terms in English. That’s the whole problem actually, because I just don’t understand what’s written there. So at the moment something does not work the way it should, I depend on you guys… I hope you can help me out!
Thanks in advance.
]]>– Two Virtual Hosts
– Each Virtual Host with its own WordPress 3.3.2 Multisite installation
– Both WordPress installations will share the same database. I’ve configured wp-config to use different table prefixes for each.
I installed and configured the first domain easily. Multisite works like a charm. Note that I declared the directory directive, rewrite rules, etc. in the virtual host section instead of a .htaccess file.
Then, following the same instructions, I installed the second multisite installation and added a second <VirtualHost> to the Apache config file.
I can still login to the first installation, but not the second. I get a “page isn’t redirecting properly” error when I tried to log in.
The first multisite install was so painless, there must be a trick to doing multiple, multisite installs using Apache’s virtual hosting. I’m not sure what the trick is.
If anyone else has successfully done this, I’d welcome any guidance you can share about getting this right.
Many thanks in advance!

]]>I wanted to install a further blog in a subdirectory mockfordphotography and followed all instructions – creating a separate SQL database, editing the wp-config file and copying a full extract of WP into the mockfordphotography directory.
My ooops moment has come when trying to now run the install.php file from a browser. Everytime I type what I believe is the correct URL to access the file I am simply bumped back up to the ShearsMockford.com file cannot be found page.
I am using both https://www.shearsmockford.com/mockfordphotography/wp-admin/install.php
and
https://173.254.66.119/mockfordphotography/wp-admin/install.php as we have a fixed IP but cannot get the file to run
I assume I am in .htaccess territory here but don’t really get how all this resolving works. Any help much much appreciated thanks
]]>What I want to do is have my main site as is but have a seperate wordpress install that will register users on it from main site and have same login on it.
I have a site running wordpress as the main part and phpbb as forums. There is a bridge between the main site and the forums so the wordpress login works on the forums and when a user registers on wp they are registered on forums too.
so at the moment its Site.com and site.com/forums
and i want to make it site.com site.com/2ndwp and site.com/forums all with same logins.
Is this possible? And how?
Thanks in advance
]]> how should i proceed ? install wordpress in each directory ? i want them to use different database, because there will be a lot of information, and having it all in one database will make problems.
the current database is not new,it’s one year old, with over 30.000 posts already,so i guess multisite is not an option ?
what do you recommend ?
thanks for the support
