Multi-Domain Language Switching with Directory-Based URL Modifications

Hello there,

We would like to achieve multi-domain access to a single wp site while switching the language with retaining directory-based URL modifications and staying on the current domain.

To demonstrate, here is our goal with a post called ‘My Post’, having two languages (en, de) and two domains (domain-en.com, domain-de.com):

For domain-en.com with English as the default language:
domain-en.com/my-post/
domain-en.com/de/mein-post/

For domain-de.com with German as the default language:
domain-de.com/mein-post/
domain-de.com/en/my-post/

We want users to switch languages within the same domain without changing the domain, while also being able to access the site via multiple domains.

We don’t want to use Multisite solution, because we want the domains to point to the same content.

The plugin’s url modification option ‘The language is set from different domains’ is pretty close to what we are trying to achieve. But instead of having one language associated with each domain, we would like to enable the users to change the language from the directory name in pretty permalinks while keeping them on the same domain.

Is there an existing way to achieve this with Polylang, possibly in combination with another plugin or through custom code? If not, how complex would it be to add this functionality, and is it something we might see in a future update?

Hello

This solution works correctly, with WP Multi-site / domain + Polylang and Url domain + subdirectory:

domain.com –> english

domain.com/fr/ –>french

domain.com/de –> german

But i try to use ”?The language is set from different domains” to have this (a mix), but don’t works correctly, i have unlimited redirect on domains.com), it is possible with Polylang please ?

domain.com –> english (like before)

domain2.fr –>french

domain.com/de –> german (like before)

I have an online store configured with WPML, each language has its own national domain. This is 1 wordpress installation with 1 database. There are about 20 languages (and domains) in total. Is it sufficient to purchase a license for 1 website and will the plug-in work properly in each language?

we are planning to buy the pro version but need to know upfront if our planned setup does work:

So we want to host the flipbook on domain A and get it via iFrame to be shown on domain B.

Is there any issue in regards of analytics and/or licence?

plugin not working with wpml domains

Hi,

Our site uses WPML with multi domain setup.
When we use a giftcard on our main domain there is no problem.
When I want to try this on a translated domain it doesn’t work.
I get a notification that the gift card was added but nothing changes in the bill. Any idea what’s wrong here?

Hi,

Is it possible to change the mailer setup based on domains? We use Polylang on a single site, where each domain represents a language.

To avoid getting to spam filters, we would need to config Mailgun’s domain name and private key according to the domain on which the visitor is.

Also we would like to set-up a different “From email” and “From name” per language/domain.

Only thing I found is multi-site setup for WP mail SMTP PRO, but this isn’t a multisite.

Hello

We have a client website which is current Magenti and we would like to migrate to WooCommerce. However, having used both platform for year, Im unsure if WooCommerve can do what we need.

We would like to have a single back end (Dashboard), but multiple Front-ends.

eg. www.domain.com
www.domain.co.uk
www.domain.de
www.domain.it
etc

There will be 12 different coutries.

Ideally I would like behaviour like Magento. So we set a DEFAULT product decsription/info, and that is used across all domains. However, where a domain is in a foreign language, we would want to manage a seperate description.

Obviously we also need seperate prices per domain, seperate shipping options, tax rules etc etc.

Does anyone know of any woocommerce plugin that can help achieve this?

Multisite network problems

Hi!
I have had my www.sukat.com website running for many years and I just made wordpress site as an multisite. The child sites are made as sub-directories www.sukat.com/subsite2 and so on. When I try to change the sites URL www.sukat.com/subsite2 to www.alusvaatteet.com in the network admin dashboard the sites dashboard stops working and throws me to the www.alusvaatteet.com page and gives me 404 error.
I have made in cPanel the alias page for www.alusvaatteet.com.
Do I need some sort of an plugin that the changed page url would work?

It is good, and really speeds up your WP, but it needs WPML multi domain support (now you can only optimize one TLD, instead of multiple when using WPML)
