If someone could help me I would appreciate.
Thanks, I hope to answer
]]>I use the webhost MediaTemple and I’ve installed their one-click WordPress feature. As of a few days ago, everytime I log in, click the link that directs me to my website, it loads, but I no longer have access to the dashboard sidebar where I may edit my posts/pages/plug-ins.
Any suggestions on fixing this?
]]>Here is how I have things setup:
I have a subdirectory install so I have domainA.com/domainB. domainA.com is where I have the multisite install and domainB.com is the site I want to map to. Both are pointing to the same ip as they are hosted on the same server a Media Temple(DV).
As both of these share the same ip I’m not sure how I need to set up the DNS. I’ve read that you can accomplish this by editing or adding a CNAME record, but I’m not sure what edit I would need to make.
Any insight as to what I could try next would be greatly appreciated.
]]>This is my first question on the WordPress forums and I have done some searching around already without any success.
I need to migrate a Movable Type blog into WordPress. I exported a blog from MT and imported the posts into WP.
I’ve been asked if I can migrate the images as well… but there doesn’t seem to be any clear cut way to do this. So I’ve been thinking about it and I have an idea but want to see if it’ll work.
Idea: move all of the images to the WordPress server and hack htaccess or some other WP configuration file to point the existing URLs for these images from the MT posts to point to where I’ve uploaded them on WP.
Does that make sense? Would it work? It would be extremely time consuming and tedious and frankly stupid to try to modify all of the URLs from these posts I’ve imported. I want to know if I can leave the posts as they are and just upload the images to someplace like:
wp-content/blogs.dir/3/files
on the filesystem of the WP install and then just do some hacking to point all of the URLs in the posts’ HTML to this location.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Thanks!
]]>Reassigning the authors on thousands of posts is too tedious to even consider. I can see numerous people have had the same problem but no one has offered a solution as far as I can tell.
There a number of other annoyances like paragraph breaks becoming line breaks and tags failing to come over but the author problem looks like locking me into Movable Type unless there is a solution.

]]>I am however struggling with how to properly domain map.
On MT the only DNS record I have created is for the primary domain of the network setup.
I have wildcards etc working, and sites working as subdomain.domain.com
Now, I want to map real domains to those sites.
I have the domain mapping plugin installed. I have read every tutorial and articles I could find, experimented and had no success. I would rather not have to create symlinks using SSH for each site if it could be avoided, as I have some non technical partners.
The first domain I want to map is parked at Godaddy.
If anybody has experience and could lead me through the steps at each end, MT and GoDaddy, I would be very appreciative.
]]>Also,
I want to use a few photos in my text widget on the sidebar. The only way I found to do that at present was to hard code to the current photos.
What path would I use to access a photo once it was uploaded through WP’s image upload browser, that was not connected to a post?
Thanks
]]>Thankfully, I have convinced him to switch to WordPress, which leads me to my question.
Since I can’t get into MT to do an export, is there anyway to import the data from the MT database itself?
]]>I have installed WP 2.7.1 under my primary domains account, but want WP to install, run, open under a separate domain name I own that is under the same primary account on the (MT) GS. Attempting to install WP under that domain will not load the WP ADMIN install set up. The browser cannot find the page. It all seems to be set up correctly with its own database though. MT has a one-click, so I haven’t messed up the settings.
I tried installing WP as a sub-domain to my primary domains account and WP installs and runs perfectly as the sub.
I have two websites running in the account on (MT). One, the primary. Two, a stand alone domain = not a sub-domain. I would like my WP site to work as a Three, stand alone domain, not a sub-domain to my primary site, but still be under the one (MT)GS account. That url is already listed (nameserver) with the (MT) GS account.
Primary: department99.com
Secondary ( stand alone ): advertisignfreelance.com
WP: droolinc.com
WP loads only as sub-domain: department99.com/droolinc
Could someone tell me if there is a way to get my droolinc.com WP site to run without being a sub-domain to department99.com? (MT) says I need to buy a separate account for WP to have it stand alone as it’s own domain – doesn’t make sense to me as my advertisingfreelance.com site works on it’s own url there.
Thank you
