It’s time for a new website design as the developers of my current theme no longer offer support. So I shall move over to a Divi theme.

I understand very little about the technical side of my website in terms of the host cPanel / file structure etc.

I understand that I need to create a staging site to safely design a new website design. I have a few questions:

1. Will a staging site be a straight duplicate of my live site, but changes made here will not be seen on the live site?
2. Will the staging site be accessed with the same Worpress account I used before or do I need a new account and have to import all the images etc from the original site?
3. Or will by default, the staging site in WordPress have access to the SAME library of images of the original site WITH the embedded SEO work done on the images?
4. Once the staging site is complete, if not all the images of the original site have been used on the new site, will the rest of the images be lost once the new website is pushed to live?

I hope all that makes sense. I’m really worried I will lose everything if I get this wrong and the existing website has had months and months of work put into it.

I hope this is the right section to post in. I’m a little confused.

I just spent the last 4 hours trying to transfer my worpress.com information to www.remarpro.com. I’ve set up and installed and that’s fine. So I went to import the XML file from WordPress.com ticking the box to download and import attachment files and it just kept coming back with Error 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable. There’s no issue with the size of my file (722KB). I then tried without ticking the download and import box and it transferred over my blogs and pages, but not the photos.

Does anyone have any answers to this? Am I doing something wrong?

I have almost completed my first WordPress website. I have a development server on the web and I allowed my client to set up gallery, some static pages and posts while I worked on development.

Ie. The development website is stored in a folder in the development server.

Anyway I perhaps incorrectly imagined that it would be simple to move the complete website to the root web folder on a different server – so different url and document root.

It seems like that could be a problem, any advice appreciated.

Two weeks ago I moved my website from MijnDomein to Hostnet. And now I can’t get connected tot Jetpack. When I want to connect I get the following message:

ccURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate:

Something to do with my SSL certificate maybe? At my new hostingcompany they can’t help me…I hope you can?

As much as I understand if I just change the pack at 1&1 addidng WP option then I will be a part of wordpress. com that is not very likely for me.

What could I have missed during the moving of my website?

I was experimenting with various options to migrate it but all of the options had me doing complex SQL DB & config file edits that, as a non-techie, left me confused and baffled.

Then I tried All-in-One WP Migration. It seemed just TOO simple, but it WORKED just as promised: no complicated configuration file amendments and no re-configuring MySQL (which is just as well, as Synology uses the MarianDB10 flavour of MySQL). I had nothing to do but CLICK! Check out their video – it works just as they showed it, step-by-step. A brilliant plugin that does exactly what it claims.

I want to move my website to a new domain also the theme I have is not responsive so I want to change it. How do I keep my SEO as my ranking on google very good.
