So, what I have is a webspace with Ionos witg all the WordPress files and the database from my WordPress site which I’ve downloaded via FTP and my new domain name set up with a Linux server with GoDaddy.
The issue I’m facing is, when I upload the site files I downloaded via FTP and import the database, it keeps coming up with the “install WordPress” screen to set up a fresh WordPress site.
I’ve transferred over the htaccess file and now, it’s trying to download a file that doesn’t do anything (according to the text in the file when opened with notepad).
I’m in a right pickle. Wp-config is all set up correctly so far as I can tell pointing to the new host with the new database username and password.
Can anyone provide a step by step guide on moving from another server webspace to the domain name? All the guides online I can find includes migration whilst the previous site is still active. For me, this isn’t the case.
My issue is (probably) unique because it is effectively a local host set up on the 1and1 server where everything is still pointing to my domain name, I’ve downloaded this and assumed it wouldn’t be too difficult to just upload, reconnect the database and I’d be good to go but it doesn’t seem to be so easy as I expected.
So far, I’ve spent the last 8 hours toying with it myself, and since the 11th June dealing with the domain hijacking and spent much of that time with Ionos and GoDaddy support to try and get it all sorted and up and running… Its half 3 in the morning now and this post is probably going to be my last avenue for a solution before giving up on it!
Really appreciate the help.
Now i have moved all the files etc to 1and1 but nothing is working, I have used filezilla to move all my files, updated the wp-config file with all the new info and can’t work out what the problem, i have searched through other peoples issues to see if i could solve it myself, this was however, to no avail
I have also gone into the mysql database (phpmyadmin) and changed the wp-options url to my new one which is urban-fix.co.uk
https://urban-fix.co.uk
(only the 1and1 default page comes up)
when i try: https://urban-fix.co.uk/sample-page/
I get this message;
Warning: require(/homepages/10/d526297926/htdocs/wp-includes/load.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/10/d526297926/htdocs/wp-settings.php on line 21

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks, UrbanFix
I have just moved my wordpress site, but am having issues with the database.
I have
changed the changed the urls in the database from https://localhost:8888 to
https://www.educatetogethernc.com
Deleted the old database on php my admin and imported the new database
But when I go to the domain I get the ‘Welcome to the famous five minute WordPress installation process!’ page – Anyone know where I have gone wrong?
Many thanks
Mel
He’s set it in the .htaccess file so I see the new site from my IP and everyone else sees the old one. The problem is that I can’t log-in to the Admin area via /wp-admin. I’ve tried resetting password and tried logging in with different accounts but still no success.
Any help really appreciated as they were hoping to have the site launch this week for a fundraising event launch.
Thanks

At first I was getting some 404 errors when clicking away from the home page but fixed this by means of uploading the .htaccess file.
All the links and content to my website are now visible and work apart from the following that result in a blank screen;
my admin login page AFTER entering login details;
www.MYSITENAME.com/wp-login.php
home page when “www.” is not specified (e.g. my “home” link on the menu);
https://MYSITENAME.com
I’ve tried deactivating all plugins, I’ve also tried testing if a theme is to blame as per this instruction
I have moved from GoDaddy who use a slightly different absolute path structure to that of my new host. I suspect that this might be the culprit?
Godaddy structure;
/home/content/a/b/c/myaccount/html/wp-content
New Structure;
public_html/wp-content
I have found a few of these using PHPmyAdmin and corrected them (all were themes or plugins in wp-options). But I have limited knowledge of running queries and those that I have changed have made no difference.
Procedure I followed when moving servers;
Backed up database and files.
Uploaded files onto new server, imported database.
edited the config. file to look at the new database.
Be great to hear suggestions and if my guess is correct, can someone give me an idiots guide of finding and replacing any other old root paths in the database?
Thanks in advance!
Looking at the source I can see that timthumb is still calling the images from the old server like so:
https://"NEW SERVER"/"THEME"/timthumb.php?src=https://"OLD SERVER"/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/kateposter1.jpg
The php source calls the images like so:
<span class="rounded" style="background: url('<?php print_thumbnail($thumb, $thumbnail["use_timthumb"], $titletext, $width, $height, $classtext, true, true); ?>&a=t') no-repeat;">
Please help, I need to get this running and am completely stuck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
If I could get ftp access and just download the whole thing I think it might work but my old host is less than helpful in getting that.
Can I make it work with the .tar.gz file? How do I get it to unpack?
