I have been using ms-sql 2008 and now on I will use MY-SQL (wordpress)
Any tips how I can move all of my database(ms-sql) to wordpress(my-SQL)
(of course, I will not take all of them, I will move what wordpress needs)
I have db for posts (over 30,000)
I have db for users (over 30,000)
and Comment (over 40,000)
and other small things..
I am thinking that I download all of database as excel file and modify for wordpress. and upload to ms-sql
what do you think?
Please advice me how to do well.
]]>A good day. I have just moved my wordpress to a new server, which all worked great, even the images and all info migrated fine. But now, when I try to update to wordpress 3.3.2, in the updater, I get the following error, where enviroseptic.eu is the old site and enviro-septic.fr is the new site. It seems that there is still somewhere a link to enviroseptic.eu in the database, but I searched and replaced everything correctly – using interconnectit) :(((
Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file /home/envirosept/domains/enviroseptic.eu/public_html/wp-content/uploads/wordpress-3.tmp because No such file or directory in /home/envirosept/domains/enviro-septic.fr/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 177
Warning: unlink(/home/envirosept/domains/enviroseptic.eu/public_html/wp-content/uploads/wordpress-3.tmp) [function.unlink]: No such file or directory in /home/envirosept/domains/enviro-septic.fr/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 509
Can anyone help out?
Thanks for that.
Greetings,
Guy
]]>My problem now is, the files that were created before (ie: https://www.olddomain.ca/info/post-I-created) is not being found on the new server. So https://www.newdomain.ca/info/post-I-created is giving me a Page Can Not be Found message.
Again, any advice would be great!

]]>Make WordPress less a pain in the butt when moving databases from one server and/or domain to another. I find it really cumbersome to search and replace absolute URI links and server Unix paths within WordPress databases every time I shift hosts.
Why can’t site root URI and Unix path be defined in one location only? Defining them in wp-config.php is a good start.
For the most part, I develop on my localhost, then end up uploading the finished product to my client’s host. Often I find myself downloading databases from my client’s hosts for debugging and backup purposes, but each and every time I have to hack the databases for the aforementioned reasons.
It would be nice if future releases of WordPress would put this nonsense to an end, in fact I was hoping this would be fixed in v2.5.
Anyway, WordPress is a really nice CMS. My clients love em and I like working with it, and I hope future releases will be more friendly with moving house.
]]>I have nicely backed up the database using the PHPMyAdmin on the old host.
The new host (1&1) also calls its interface PHPMyAdmin, but it doesn’t look the same. It doesn’t have a nice “Import” tab at the top of the screen.
Instead, their help says to click the SQL button, then “Import Files” tab. But unlike the WP instructions, there is no “SQL” button to click – it says it’s looking for a text file, and nothing happens when I select my WP backup file and tell it to use that.
I hae no idea about the more technical aspects of using SQL… Can anyone help me, please??

What is going wrong?
