I ran across a problem migrating a site from one host to another. I developed a script that would detect the current user and role and then redirect based on the current page and user. It invoked the wp_get_current_user() function. On the first host it worked flawlessly, but when I moved to the second host, it would fail when trying to save the script. When I hit the Save Changes button the page would either return a 403 Forbidden error or it would load the main page of the front end and return a page not found error. After doing some research, I found a related issue and reached out to my host to see if it applied to my situation and sure enough that was the issue. The issue ended up being a mod_sec setting on the second host. When I explained the problem, my host tweaked the mod_sec rules for my account and the plugin is working as expected once again. I am sharing this because I looked for almost a week trying to resolve the problem and could not find a direct solution anywhere. If you are seeing strange behavior with this plugin (or similar plugins that inject code) reach out to your hosting provider and see if they can adjust their mod_sec rules on Apache servers.

Translation error “not found”

Hello,
our news portal is having problems with the Loco translate plugin. It usually works great but the WooCommerce strings are causing troubles. Whenever trying to translate and save a phrase an error occurs. It says “Error: Not found”.

Sorry for not answering there, but the thread is already closed. We already tried to solve the problems by checking our Ajax settings and also whitelisted mod_sec. But it’s still not working. It did work in the past sometime, but not anymore. Do you know how that is possible?

Problem with “setting” admin area

Hi,
I have a problem in my wordpress site with the Download manager plugin. When i go to admin dashboard –> downloads –> settings i can’t save the settings so i can’t customize the message and the user role permission for the file browser access.
I try to reinstall the plugin.
What can i do?

Today, when I try to save, appears “Error: Not found”
Console:

I tried:

– deactivate all plugins
– uninstall and install WordPress again

Nothing worked.

Forbidden to save WooCommerce language files

Hi there,

I have installed Loco Translate and after I figured out how it works, I started using it for different plugins. Works fine.
Only plugin it doesn’t seem to work with is WooCommerce. To see if it was a problem on my end, I tried Loco Translate on 3 fresh WordPress – Woocommerce installs on different hostings and domains. Problem occurs every time with clean installs. No changes made after basic installation of the plugin.

Error I get is plain and non-explaining: Forbidden.

I already tried giving 777 permission to the files. Nothing works.

The problem only occurs and keeps occuring with WooCommerce plugin.

Please help?

Getting 404 when trying to save changes under Settings\Discussions

I have WordPress 4.1.1 installed and am running into a problem when I attempt to save settings on the https://www.agentsof.cool/wp-admin/options-discussion.php page.

When I click the “Save Changes” button on the page I am sent to https://www.agentsof.cool/wp-admin/options.php and get a 404 error (which is odd as options.php does exist and trying to load that URL in the browser takes me to it).

I’ve tried this with all plugins disabled and the default 2015 theme activated and receive the same error.

Researching the issue on the WordPress forums, other users have run into this issue and in many cases it was either caused by an issue with mod_sec or mod_rewrite. I’ve checked and the .htaccess file in my public_html folder appears to be the default for WordPress.

Does anyone know what issues with mod_rewrite or mod_sec can cause this issue so I can give my hosting service some idea of what they should be looking for?

Mod Sec messing my wp-admin styles

Hi Guys,

I have installed & configured mod_sec for mu ubunu web-server.

One of the issues I am having, is when I login to the admin area the stlying is all messed up.

You can see an example of what it looks like here.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Perhaps I could whitelist the entire /wp-admin folder somehow?

Google Analytics Dashboard and mod_sec

I host a few WP sites with EUKHost and use Google Analytics Dashboard on them. However, there seems to be a conflict with it and their implementation of mod_sec.

1. Doing updates to posts etc, it causes my IP to be blocked due to “Access denied with code 406 (phase 2). Pattern match “(ht|f)tps?:/”. Apparently, the pattern match is used by hackers.

2. When displaying the list of pages, random pages display the following in the Analytics column
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
