But I can still see these thumbnails in the Preview mode within the WordPress admin.
Example posts from today with thumbnails not showing:

Scroll down 2/3rds way, this is from today which is where I first saw the issue. Below are two posts where the thumbnails were working properly when I first posted the stories, but now are not showing:

Any ideas? Thank you!
]]>Many regards

Around April 20th a number (at least many hundreds out of 19,000) thumbnail images disappeared from Media Library — the files are still accessible by clicking to go to it, but no thumbnail and it draws 100% of CPU trying to pull up a page in either Assistant or the regular media library or even just to pull up the image in post edit. Some are new images, others are very old -some posts have all images showing up in the library (both in the admin panel or editing a post), some have a mix, and some have no images. It doesn’t matter whether or not MLA is active or not – the result is the same.
In Query (which I really don’t know how to use) the time is super slow when I try to pull up the a list of images in MLA – a time of 41.1976 with the following Caller info for the slowest componet:
MLAReferences::mla_attachment_array_fetch_references_handler()
wp-content/plugins/media-library-assistant/includes/class-mla-data-references.php:491
MLAQuery::mla_attachment_array_fetch_references()
wp-content/plugins/media-library-assistant/includes/class-mla-data-query.php:149
MLAQuery::mla_query_list_table_items()
wp-content/plugins/media-library-assistant/includes/class-mla-data-query.php:449
MLA_List_Table->prepare_items()
wp-content/plugins/media-library-assistant/includes/class-mla-list-table.php:2033
MLA::mla_render_admin_page()
wp-content/plugins/media-library-assistant/includes/class-mla-main.php:1736
do_action(‘media_page_mla-menu’)
wp-includes/plugin.php:478
I have no idea what this means, but it is by far the slowest component to load when I am using the media library.
Confession: At the same time, I have also been using media cleaner and regenerate thumbnails and I restored the site twice around and in the weeks after mid April. (I’ve been trying to clean an old, large site.) So I realize there might be another problem. But with no support from WordPress, I’m hoping you can either identify further aspects of MLA to investigate or rule it out entirely.
]]>I have defined and inserted a MaxGalleria gallery into a Popup Maker popup (using Popup Maker’s classic editor). There are two images defined for the gallery. The thumbnail images show up correctly when you view the gallery itself from within the site dashboard environment.
However, when the popup loads from within the actual page both of the thumbnails are grayed out. If you click either one the correct picture opens up in the lightbox…but the thumbnails are nowhere to be seen.
I’ve tried regenerating the thumbnails, and regenerating all thumbnails, to no avail. I tried turning off the lazy loading feature of the image grid, and that didn’t solve the problem either.
Suggestions?
]]>The missing thumbnails had happened a few months ago after a WordPress update and I found a plugin that can regenerate them. I activated the plugin and ran it on the Library. Some of the missing thumbnails were repaired and it listed all the images that were in the Library that can’t be found now (between 8 to 27 images per website). The websites are on three different hosting services.
Some of the missing images are the ones WordPress generated for the Medium size. I’ve checked several images in the Library and some still have the medium size but others have disappeared.
I don’t understand why this is happening but I’d like to know how to recreate the Medium sizes. I could use PhotoShop to make a new one at the specific size and give it the old name but when I upload it (Add New), WordPress will then generate three to four smaller versions of it that I don’t need filling up my Uploads folder.
Is there a way to replace the missing images with new ones of the same name given it by WordPress for the medium size without having more created from it? Would just using FTP to replace a missing file work since the data for it is still in the Media Library?
Thanks.
]]>The last 2 are inconsistent, some posts are messed up, some fine.
I’ve contacted the host of our shared server and they have restored the database and files to dates before this stuff appeared, but that didn’t solve our issue (oddly, posts created after the restore point are still there).
Any ideas on how to get our site back to normal would be much appreciated!
The clearest examples of the problem are here:

]]>Our site, https://www.windsorheightsvoices.net, is self hosted on a brand new Dell server running Ubuntu Server 16.04.1 with all current patches. Theme is: Twenty Seventeen. All plug-ins are most current version available.
Issue: Thumbnails of images (7 in total) do not appear in Media gallery. When link to view any image is selected, the link to the image is malformed. Example: Firefox can’t find the server at www.windsorheightsvoices.netsidewalks-in-windsor-heights.. Likewise: When a page is selected from the dashboard, the browser reports the server can’t be found and reports a similarly malformed URL.
Troubleshooting: Server and browser’s caches both cleared. No effect. ALL plug-ins disabled. No effect. While plug-ins disabled, accessed image files directly from server and found no problems with any of them. Proceeded to permanently delete images thru Media page. Closed browser and restarted. Uploaded image files again via Media page. Files reported as present by Media page, but no thumbnails present. Activated Force Regenerate Thumbnails plug-in and ran it. No effect.
That’s it so far. I don’t know what direction to take now. Unfortunately, I don’t have a backup copy of our database that I know to be OK (ignorant, I know). I’m about ready to start pulling my hair out! I hope someone wise shaman can direct my efforts to fix this CF and preserve the meager beginnings of our site!
Many thanks in advance!
