Unable to create a Discussion Board

Hi folks. Thank you for providing the WP Community this plug in. My basic question is that it is not clear to me how to create an actual discussion board, after i download and install your plug in.

After I installed you plugin
I saw Settings > Discussion Board appear on my Admin menu

If you click on this, you see 3 tabs
Options, Design, and User

okay, that is fine, but back up for a second.
How do I create a new instance of a Discusion Board?
put another way, I want to create a forum (or Discussion Board) called “My Message Board”

do i create first a page or a post?
do I then paste a short code for that forum in a page (or post)?

if so, where do I actually obtain this short code?
There seems to be no tab for this plugin that allows you to actually specify the name of a new discussion board.
sorry for sounding so clueless, but these are very basic questions about how to make use of your plug-in that are not clear at all in the documentation.

then there is also this discussion in your install notes about login or registration forms and a short code called [discussion_board_login_form]

where do i specify this form? do you supply a way for me to create this? or is it do this done some other way through some other plug in?
put yet another way, exactly how is this registration form generated?

How do I delete all bbpress message board posts?

I want to delete all of the posts and start with a new message board. There are about 50,000 posts, so deleting them at the website or at cpanel in the php database will take forever. I don’t want to delete the plug in if I don’t have to. I am a new user. Thank you.

WordPress appropriate for website requiring Member's area & MySQL database?

I am developing a new website and would really like to use the WordPress platform but don’t know whether it will accommodate the specific setup and custom functionality that I need.
My requirements are:
1. The website will require an SSL certificate
2. The website will need to be connected to a MySQL database
3. The website requires a separate Member’s Area which is protected by a login and which only members can access
4. The member’s area will have a completely different set of pages from the main/public website although the look and feel/theme will be the same
5. The member’s area needs to have a completely different menu bar from the main/public website to reflect the different pages in this section. The footer will be the same as on the public website.
6. The member’s area will need to incorporate some existing pHp based software
8. The member’s area will require a private Message Board/communication portal that individual members can use for private, one-to-one communication with us

I have been advised by a couple of web developers that WordPress will not provide the flexibility I need, however I wonder if a talented pHp coder could bring this together seamlessly on a WordPress platform.
Also, would WordPress multisite be useful for this?
Any thoughts/recommendations would be VERY much appreciated!

Looking for a simple message board plugin

Does anyone know of a plugin that looks like a mini forum, but works more like a message board for members?
An example of its use would be: a member logs into my site, clicks the menu bar link to the message board page, and can see all (or the latest X number) posts from other members immediately. The member can click these posts to see their contents, be able to comment on the post, and be able to return to the main post listing at any time.
I tried bbPress, but it uses its own page for the forum so I can’t keep my menu bar at the top for easy page navigation, and it seems too “heavy-duty” for my simple needs.

Can anyone recommend a theme to fit my need?

I have been using Attitude for a long time.
My company likes the scrolling image on the front page.

I recently had a need for my employees to have access to information
as well as an area where they can add new information.
Not just a blog but also an area where I can have general resources
available to them. examples; places to find certain products in my area.
contact information for key people in school districts.
general information that can help with social problems etc….
Almost like general info board that the employees can access and change.

In order to do this I would need to have them log in for security.
I would need to be able to monitor activity and be able to delete information
that might be in violation with policy.

It seems like I need a double purpose page.
The first page having all needed info for new business.

The second page would have a log in from the first page but would
have a new navigation bar. Would require a profile and would be interactive.

Does anyone know of a theme that would fit my need? I have been searching for
a long time but I can’t tell if any of the themes I have seen would fit my need.

Discreet area for members

On my site (haco.org.uk) I would like to add a forum/message board but with the following requirements…
1. Must log in to use the forum/message board
2. Initial registration is ‘held’ pending my review – I will check to see if the applicant is a member of HACO
3. Not worried if applicant chooses password or it is auto-generated and applicant amends
4. Only interested in capturing name and email address at registration
5. I (plus one or two others) will be able to moderate comments after they have been posted if necessary, is not worried about moderation pre-posting

I have installed and uninstalled several plugins, as I don’t seem to be able to find a plugin with the right combo. Am not a complete PC dullard but may well have found what I want but have been unable to tweak.

Any suggestions for easy to install and manage plugin that meets my requirements would be most welcome.

I’m looking for two types of plugins that will work well with a www.remarpro.com site hosted on Blue Host. The plugins would be used on a church website (does not exist yet).

Prayer Requests – I want members to be able to post prayer requests right to the website (without having to login to do that). There are plenty of plugins for prayer requests, but here’s where my needs are a little different. Congregation members like to receive a notification (from our current/old site) every time a prayer request is added. Essentially, I‘m looking for a plugin where folks can subscribe to our mailing list and receive an email every single time (no daily limits) someone enters a prayer request.

Message Board – now something similar here too. It would basically function the same as the prayer request plugin described above, but would be for news, announcements and celebrations from congregation members. It really needs the same “subscribe to the mailing list” feature that shoots an email out each time a post is made.

Hope someone can help me find great plugins to solve these issues.
