I’m facing a very strange behavior with my customers subscriptions. We have three configured plans and some customers already reached his expiration date and PMS didn’t change subscription status to expired… for some reason it keeps showing us the subscription as active.
Once I saw this issue, I did some queries and figured out that several customers which should have expired signature still has access to logged in area.
Have you ever see this behavior before ?

One day I said to myself “It would be interesting to create a private area on my site where I can offer content only for registered users AND content for single users”. After hours of studying and testing with various plugins I realized that it is not as simple as I thought.
So I decided to take stock of my studies and ask the community for help.
The problem is divided into two parts:
1- login / registration
2- content restriction
The login part is not a problem, as WordPress already offers this functionality, but the private area should at least do these two things:
1- Have dynamic menus that change according to the type of user (if he is logged in he must not see “login”, if he is a guest he must not see “my profile”)
2- Remember me (almost all plugins offer this possibility)
The second part concerns the restriction of the content, and here I found the greatest difficulties.
There are many plugins to manage restricted areas with “per role” access and some rare extensions with “single user” access, but if you wanted both solutions …
I tested these plugins, of which I put a brief description:
Simple WordPress Membership
It is not possible to restrict access to individual users
———————————
User Specific Content
One of the few that restricts access by single user BUT NOT by user role
It has no dynamic menus
——————————
Restrict Content by iThemes
It works for user roles and groups and has many options.
It does NOT work for individual users
It has no dynamic menus
—————————–
Ultimate Member
It has dynamic menus!
Automatically create login / registration pages
It has the paid “private content” extension for user-specific content. $ 40 per year
—————————-
Paid Memberships Pro
It has no dynamic menus
Automatically create login / registration pages
No restrictions for single user in the free version. They have a lot of paid plugins that probably manage to do this.
—————————-
Profilpress is evil :-O
Uninstalled because it caused incredible slowness on the site
————————-
WP customer area is evil :-O
Uninstalled because it caused incredible slowness on the site
One of the few that narrows to single user. Very good, shame about the slowness
————————-
Cozmoslabs membership
It has no dynamic menus
No content for specific user
——————————
WP User Manager
It has dynamic menus!
It has no specific content in free mode. It costs 199 lifetime
——————————-
The conclusion is that to date, if I want to use only FREE plugins, I don’t know how to create a reserved area that can manage restrictions for user roles AND ALSO restrictions for single users.
I hope I was clear. Do you have any ideas?

]]>We needed a closed member area which only certain user roles are allowed to access and where we offer downloads/files only users with the corresponding/correct user role are allowed to download.
Our solution was pretty straightforward: We were able to configure a custom post type, to which only certain user roles have access to. They can login via the standard login form of the wp admin. After they logged in successfully they are redirected to the member area their user role is assigned to.
–> So the only thing missing was the functionality the plugin “Prevent Direct Access” provides out of the box: Protect WordPress files.
And it just works, we’re very happy to have found such a great plugin.
Had some issues with the registration of the license, support was very friendly and helped right away.
]]>I have gone through the forum and I have not found what I am looking for. (Apologies if I have missed it though)
All I would like to do is:
? Member log in
??After logging in, they are redirected to their member area
? Their member area has ‘member only’ posts and documents
How do I set this up?
Thanks in advance!
]]>If a user try to visit a restricted site (only for members) on the second attempt he is able to open it. Really weird. Any idea why?

The two buttons “Media Monitoring” & “Materials” refering to members-only pages but on the second attempt you can reach them in public
Please help!
All best Mike
]]>1) I want to be able to provide dealer specific content that is only shown based on the username logging in. In other words User 1 will have personalized content that is different than what User 2 will see such as past invoices, current jobs etc.
2) I also want to be able to easily publish content that every login can see that I would not have to publish for each individual user. Examples: Current inventory lists, sales support literature and brochures, catalogs etc.
So in a nutshell I’m looking for a plug in that will allow users to login and view personalized content that no other dealers can see as well as content that I publish one time that becomes available for all dealers to see.
]]>I’d like to create a website with the following functionalities:
– users subscribe to an offer with an monthly payment to receive online documents. Which payment solution allows a monthly direct debit?
– the member logins in to his account and in his member area the relevant documents (articles on one subject). It must be easy for the webmaster to tag the documents regarding the subjects…
Which plugins do you recommend?
Thanks for your help !
Nice day
I just took over a WordPress web site. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the WordPress, so I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, please.
We already use a Members area on the web site, but we need to create another password protected area for a different group with administrative area with possibility for the members of this new area of to update their own web pages and to house other administrative documents for the group to share. Is this possible and how is it done?
Thank you
Lana
]]>When members/clients log in, I would like them to be able to read the data in charts like Google Charts or https://www.flotcharts.org/ or similar. The data should be password protected and only visible for the specific user/member.
I have looked in to member plugins like wpClient,
and chart plugins like WP Business Intelligence Lite, Visualizer.
but they seem to not fully cover all my needs.
I would like advice from anyone with experience from similar scenarios. Is there some plugins/admin themes or other stuff that could help me on my way?
Hope to hear from you
