PHP max_input_vars is too low, please increase it in php.ini

I have set max_input_vars to 10000 and I still get the message. Any idea what might cause this issue? How big this variable should be?

Hello!

We have bought Torro Forms and we love it but in the middle of building a really big form we can not add any more elemets nor more steps anymore. We are in Step 5 and in this step we have added 12 elements to this step. No 13th element will be saved. No step 6 will be saved.

When i export data with WP All Export plugin, i get an error of “You’ve reached your max_input_vars limit of 1000. Please contact your web host to increase it.”, so i increased it to 10000 and tried again to export data, but it still shows the same error.

In my case, I get the following: “There are 1738 inputs and the maximum amount currently allowed by your server is 1500”.

However, both phpinfo() and your built-in maintenance page show this limit is set to 3,000 — yet it is not being honored. Can you please provide assistance?

Final Limit of Max_Input_Vars

Hi,
I’m runing a multisite with large number of custom fields and hosting the sites on a VPS with Ubuntu 16.04. At some point i wasn’t able to save more custom fields (There was no error) so i increased Max_Input_Vars in php.ini from 1000 to 6000 and that solve the problem and i proceeded to add more custom fields. Few days ago i suddenly wasn’t able to save more custom fields again in main site (in another site i was able), so i tried to increase the Max_Input_Vars in php.ini to range of numbers started from 7000 till 20000 but with no success. My hosting support said that there is no limit for this value on my server because it’s a VPS and said maybe it’s a limit of wordpress PHP.
My question is if there a final limit of Max_Input_Vars that wordpress can handle?
If not what can be the cuase that the additional cutom fields no more saved?

Adding menus doesn't work anymore

Suddenly when we try to add a new “custom link” to a menu, all checkboxes are unchecked and it’s not possible to save the menu. We receive the error-message that we should “enter a valid menu name”.

Because all worked fine till yesterday, so i followed some instructions to resize the “max_input_vars” from 1000 to 5000. now i tried it also with 6000 but it isn’t working anymore.

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Suddenly when we try to add a new “custom link” to a menu, all checkboxes are unchecked and it’s not possible to save the menu. We receive the error-message that we should enter a valid menu name.

Because all worked fine till yesterday, so i followed some instructions to resize the “max_input_vars” from 1000 to 5000. now i tried it also with 6000 but MMM isn’t working anymore.

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

This one is odd, because I have fixed this very issue on a number of sites experiencing the “hard Menu Item limit”. Both times, a simple increase to the max_input_vars fixed it in the php.ini file using:

max_input_vars 5000

This time, I’m again working with one of the MMMenus I thought I had fixed.

I went in and bumped max_input_vars up a little more to 7000 from 5000 as shown above, but it continued to choke when adding a single “Custom Link” to the menu.

When I save the menu with the one additional “Custom Link”, it isn’t truncating the menu or dropping any items, but it does lose it’s defined location (the location checkboxes all become unchecked, and it won’t allow me to save it by simply re-checking the location and clicking Save.

If I remove the “Custom Link”, the menu page again allows me to check the box for it’s Menu Location (Main Navigation)

I have suhosin installed by the web host, so I also went in and added the snippet below to my.htaccess file in the root directory of the WP install.

"Menu Options" values lost upon upgrade

I upgraded to 1.10.1 today, and the “Menu Options” section was completely wiped out – all the checkboxes, save for one random row, were set to unchecked.

I thankfully had backed up my database prior to the upgrade, so I downgraded back to 1.9.2 and then restored the database in order to return to my prior settings.

I will be glad to provide further details … not sure exactly what you might need. And not sure if it was some sort of conflict on my end as opposed to a true problem with the plugin itself. For now I will just continue with 1.9.2 which was working as expected.
