My website has recently been attacked by what I believe is the Japanese Keyword Hack. Here’s a breakdown of the issues I’m facing:
I’ve already taken some steps like deleting suspicious sitemap files, clearing the .htaccess
file, and using Wordfence to scan for issues. However, I’m still seeing the spam in search results, and the malware seems to keep reappearing.

]]>I looked at three popular malware WordPress protection plugins. Each of these plugins offered a limited free scan to entice users to purchase its full product. Only MalCare’s free scan indicated more issues than an obvious old plugin that may be malicious.
After purchasing MalCare’s single-site basic service, their advanced scan listed and removed many issues. One issue, however, kept recurring with every scan after that—a file called ./.cache.php. I see this file referenced as malicious in the WordPress support topics but without a solid answer on how to remove it. I filed a tech support issue with MalCare, and within 24 hours, the tech found and removed this recurring file from my WordPress chron job.
Thank you MalCare team.
]]>It’s always a big ordeal to maintain the security of my wp site and I have not found a plugin/service that can keep my sites safe, detect file changes & remove them automatically until I found Shield Security.
This plugin literally does it all, if any file is changed or added it notifies you & with the scanner running every hour I never miss a malware injection.
It scans and monitors WordPress core files for changes, files for malware infections, and plugin & theme files for changes. THEN you can set it to AUTOMATICALLY delete these unrecognized files. What?!? How perfect is that!
I just went in and removed all my other security plugins (malcare pro, wordfence, sucuri pro, Anti-Malware from GOTMLS.NET) because I am so sold on Shield Security Pro.
It literally does everything and can I say that the pricing model is UNBEATABLE!
I also need to mention that their customer support is also literally the BEST that I have ever encountered with any security/any product. I had a big issue I needed hands-on help with and they happily helped me with everything. They are so knowledgeable, down-to-earth, and kind. Such a great experience.
This product has really been a lifesaver go try the week free trial or just buy the subscription, it’s a no brainer!
]]>When I asked them when they planned to fix the problem, they told me that I needed to contact a developer! But, it was the weekend plus I didn’t want to wait because I didn’t know how much damage the malware would inflict on my website.
In addition, I was concerned that my website would end up on Google’s Blacklist if I waited too long! So, I googled “website security malware removal” and found 3 sites. One site did a scan and said there was no infection, but, the other 2 sites said that I did have an infection. Also, my web host confirmed that I had an infection.
I was in a panic because I didn’t know what to do! In addition, I didn’t want any new visitors to my site or any of my diabetic clients to end up getting infected by the virus.
After looking at some reviews for several companies, I selected MalCare and contacted their support, who responded almost immediately! Then, I used their malware tool, which identified the specific malware problem. Within 3 minutes, their tool removed the malware and my website was clean again! Their tool made it very easy, especially for someone who had just started using WordPress!
Thank you, MalCare! You’re a lifesaver!
Sincerely,
