The resolution on the thumbnails generated looks really poor. The images are also cropped in a random fashion.
Thank you!

I used a similar image a few weeks ago when I was on WordPress.com, and it worked fine. These are the “Beginners Guide to Investing” images.
I just migrated everything from WordPress.com to a self-hosted www.remarpro.com site with a new theme. Everything migrated wonderfully. The images for my first two posts on www.remarpro.com were perfect. No weird cropping. No low-res images being used in the wrong places.
But this week I’ve been having an issue with my latest two blog posts that use the same featured image.
This screenshot shows the images that are cropped and high quality vs. this new image.

Here’s a screenshot of all the image sizes that are being created on upload. Those underlined in red are the ones that are cropping the image and cutting off words.

This screenshot shows the “similar posts” section at the bottom of my blog posts where it needs a large image, but is using a low-res square-cropped image even though higher resolution images are available.

Here is the original image I’m uploading that is 1920x1080px.

Here is the actual thumbnail that is being generated for the Featured Image – a more square-ish cropped 300x240px image.

Any idea why it is generating these weirdly cropped versions of the image? And why is it using the weird images instead of any of the higher-res proportionally-sized images that are also being created?
I’ve uploaded and deleted so many versions of the image and it does it every time. I’ve turned off caching at CloudFlare. I’m not using Jetpack’s image caching service. I’ve purged the cache and deleted all versions of the image, but when I load a new image with a new filename, it does the same thing again.
It did generate weirdly cropped images for my previous 2 posts, but it didn’t use any of those images so I never noticed.
Help!

I am currently doing some back end work for a friend’s client’s website. On the “Contact” page of the website, there is an image of the client, but for some reason it is incredibly low resolution and also is cropped off the top. When you change the size of the window it alters the cropping. Ideally the cropping would stay the same, but i dont know how to change this.
I dont know how to alter this and have gone through every setting that I can see. Does anyone have any ideas on this?
]]>Doesn’t make sense to me that we can set the width of the photo, and how many instagram photos to show when the results will be blurry for anything over a 150px width. For sure needs some improvement.
Simply Instagram has come a long way since it’s original launch, but its still missing some core functions to be a truly powerful functional plugin.

]]>On my website, when I upload an image when making a post, it appears in high resolution, but appears in low resolution when the post is published. Please see this post for an example:
https://www.british-customs.com/triumph-motorcycle-blog/the-new-heritage-pt-iii/
When you click on the low resolution image on the post, which has been linked to the media file and previewed with a Foobox plugin, the original image appears in full resolution as intended. I deactivated all plugins, but the problem persisted. This issue appeared when I updated to 4.4, and didn’t exist prior to that. I’ve been using WordPress for several years and feel fairly confident in both making sites and debugging issues, but haven’t been able to resolve this issue even with the aid of the theme designer who tried to fix it himself.
Any help with this issue is immensely appreciated.
Thank you!
