I cannot find the link to change my homepage anymore. It used to be the first element in the dashboard but it only mentions new articles now.
I did delete some menus at some point, and that’s when I lost my homepage.
Also I have closed this menu in the dashboard and don’t know how to open it again.
]]>I’m beginner and new member here. I am using Twenty Twelve template. I accidentally deleted the Home from my menu and have tried to restore it following some threads of other people in these forums. I have created a new menu, gone to the Links and changed URL to just / and typed Home for Link Text, and saved to Menu. Then I went to Settings > Reading to define my static front page, which is supposed to be my homepage. But I realised I need to first create a new page titled Home to select it as static front page.
However, when I typed Home as the title for the new page, the permalink given is https://websitename.com/home-2/
I tried to edit the permalink to just Home (without the “-2”) but wordpress would not allow me. I figure the /home permalink already exists BUT I had deleted my original homepage..
Question
How do I either properly restore my deleted home that permalink /home points to?
OR
How now to create the new homepage that I can name the permalink as just /home?
Looking forward to all your kind guidance.
Thank you.

]]>Conclusion: there is some problem specifically with the setting on my PC, but I don’t know how to fix it.
Why the problem happened in the first place: A friend commented to me that for most firms it is not necessary to type the whole URL into the address bar (complete with www.), just the domain name is sufficient as a redirect will do the rest. So I asked my temp to sort this out for me. They went into the WP admin General settings and deleted the https://www. from the front of my blog address thinking this would solve the problem… the result: I lost the entire website.
I quickly fished around online and found a patch to recover my website. This involved altering the wp-config.php file with hard code as follows:
define (‘WP_SITEURL’, ‘https://www.YOURDOMAIN.co.uk’);
define (‘WP_HOME’, ‘https://www.YOURDOMAIN.co.uk’);
So now, when i go into General settings, my URL is correct, but greyed out and un-editable… and rather bizarrly now I can’t see my own homepage.
HELP!!!
]]>I am having no problems logging into the admin section of WordPress, but I can’t seem to find the front-end anywhere!?!
As the instructions stated, I left the “install in folder” blank, so it should have installed it in the root folder, which is fine with me. I even created a page and published it. But all links take me right back to my home page.
Can someone please tell me what I am missing???
Thanks in advance! And, Happy Turkey Day!!!

]]>suddenly I noticed that the homepage of our website is no longer reachable. For https://www.boskapel.nl/ FF or IE7 try to download a file with MIME type application/x-trash. The file is a normal WP generated HTML file (without extension), but shows a “work in progress” or “under construction” text. Direct links deeper in the site are OK, like https://www.boskapel.nl/rubriek/nieuws/
What is up?
