Also, when I try to edit a post, there is no category shown for “All Categories” but when I switch the tab to “Most Used Categories”, my categories are all there. However, it isn’t showing on the website and nor here: dashboard->posts->categories. When I try to add back those categories it says that it already exists.
Also, when I tried editing one of my posts, after checking one of the categories in the “most used” tab, it was then added in “uncategorized” after updating or publishing.
I also tried deactivating all the plugins and changing the theme, but it didn’t solved the problem. The tags and categories were still not seen on the website. All my urls have changed to /uncategorized/ .
Could anyone please help me out?!
Thanks!
After backing up my database, I lost the categories…Wordpress doesn’t show me the categories if I try to write a post. Also all post doesn’t show the categories either..
I need to find a solution to this problem.. I will appreciate any guiline.
Cheers
Jose
]]>Hundreds of my posts have become uncategorized because of (I believe) a recent MYSQL server problem at my hosting provider… also, dozens of images aren’t displaying in the Media Library…
The hosting provider has restarted the MySQL server once, to no effect, and I’m waiting to hear back from them on further efforts. Other forum posts indicate a that a full “/tmp” directory (?) could be the cause, but hosting provider says that’s not the issue here.
The category admin panel in WP admin shows the correct post counts for each category, but once you click through one of them, only a few posts show as assigned to that category. Where is WP getting the post counts from?
Where/how in the database are the category assignments stored? Does this issue sound like it can possibly still be resolved by getting any potential MySQL server communication errors fixed, or getting a /tmp/folder cleared? Or does it sound like data has been lost…?
]]>I finally went back and deleted all my categories and menu tabs, and it seems to have worked. I thought back and realized the only thing I had done was change my permalink structure before the problems occurred.
I wouldn’t have thought this would screw things up, but then thought that changing permalinks might have screwed up the way the categories and posts are found.
Anyway, would like to know if this is the case, and if there is a better way to do this sort of thing.
]]>They are in the DB still
All plugins are now disabled and I have moved to twenty ten theme so I know its not my theme editing.
Help would be very much appreciated here. I’ve even tried a new database and importing the data.
]]>I have tried several of the resolves from other posts in here to no avail!
Such as upgrading to 2.3 (same issues) to 2.5 (same issues) and have even tried using the autoupgrade plugin (failed and gave no reason why)
Is there someone in support who can look into the site and see if its a database issue or some file somewhere is corrupt and causing all this grief??
Thanx in advance
