I’m trying to use Duplicator to set up a local environment for me to build out my website. I’ve added the plugin and downloaded both packages. I’m using MAMP as my local server.
When I head to localhost:8888/installer.php, the installer comes up as expected. On the database section, I change the action to create new database, add in the host name “localhost”, give a database name and then add the user information in. I have double check the user name and password is correct.
When I go to submit, I receive the follow error message:
“Unable to connect the user?[root]?to the host?[localhost].
The server error response was:?No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it‘”
I’ve checked in firewall and nothing seems to be blocking the connection. I’m really not sure what I can do to fix this and look forward to your help!
Thank you! Sean
]]>I am a beginner so this is quite challenging as I searched the web and found a lot of how-to’s for hosting locally with editing CSS and uploading fonts manually. I purchased this full hope it does the job, so I really hope anyone can help here.
Using WP 5.3.2 with Genesis 3.3.0, Imagely Reportage is my child theme.
Thanks in advance!
]]>I’m taking on an existing www.remarpro.com site that has Woocommerce plugin installed and lots of products added in already – theme is Yokko. I’d like to work on developing the theme on a local server and have installed wordpress in my MAMP folder, exported the data from the existing wordpress admin (the client has given me the wordpress login details) and imported it into my local server wordpress. I’ve then added the Woocommerce plugin but now am a bit lost.
Questions:
1. How do I migrate the product info into the Woocommerce plugin from the original wordpress to my new wordpress?
2. The theme hasn’t migrated over into my new WordPress – is there a common reason this happens I can check out?
3. When I’m done developing, will I need to migrate the Woocommerce content back to the original site or will it seamlessly fit into the developed theme I (will have) built?
I’m fairly new to theme development so please treat me like I’m 8 years old and know nothing!
Thanks a lot
Stef

I have already tried uninstalling wordpress 3 or 4 times and it still won’t work. I also tried calling my host (frontier communitcations) and they told me that I need to speak to wordpress support. If I needed to configure my modem they could help with that (open up or change ports etc). But I don’t know where my problem is.
Please help!!
]]>I’ve tested that the site works using \\localhost on the server. When I go the client on the same network and connect to the IP/Domain name DNS resolves the name and shows me some of the content on the site. But it doesn’t display correctly, missing out all the images and only displaying text.
So I tried to map to the server to the wp-admin folder SVRNAME/WP-Admin but it wouldn’t connect.
Any suggesting on how to get to the bottom of this?
Thanks in advance,
James
]]>In order to get into my local development server its simply a matter of setting my modem/routers ip address in dnydns and having port forwarding turned on in my modem.
This work wonderfully for any static web sites I develop for my clients but not for my WP development.
When testing this locally (within my domain) the WP works wonderfully but when clients are coming in they get only a non-css’d presentation with hard coded ip’s of 192.168.0.10 (my internal server).
What do I need to correct to allow remote access to my local WP install?
Jim
