https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-move-live-wordpress-site-to-local-server/
When I get to step 3, and try to update my urls, I see this at the bottom:
0 rows affected. (Query took 0.0035 seconds.)
UPDATE wp_postmeta SET meta_value = replace(meta_value,’https://cosmicpeach.com’,’https://localhost:8888/sites/cosmicpeach’)
I’m not sure if these are supposed to be affected, but the top two queries showed me a number of rows that were changed/affected. Maybe this is where I went wrong?
When I go to the local url, I get a database error for https://localhost:8888/sites/cosmicpeach/
It says this:
Error establishing a database connection
I tried updating my wp_config file, but it’s still not connecting, so I’m not sure if maybe I typed in the wrong info to the wp_config file or what exactly it is that I have done. Can anyone help me please?
Thank you in advance.
]]>When you try to access our site with the complete URL ‘www.eco-act.com’ the live site redirects to the dev log-in screen. It only happens when ‘www.’ is before the domain. Any ideas what could be causing it to happen?
I’ve experienced the issue before and it was a problem with the .HTaccess file. However, I’ve been assured it isn’t the same problem this time…
Thanks in advance,
Sam
The staging site is referencing the plugin files from the main site. My php code runs (I have done echos to see) only in the wp-admin area, not frontend. The js files are being served from the main site – using plugins_url(). Any solutions I can try?
]]>I’ve added Gutenberg, but deleted it again because there were too many problems.
Then I tried it out again, because apparantly there was no way avoiding Gutenberg in the long run. But after 1? week I have experienced following issues:
1) When I write a post for my blog and preview I discover that some blocks are simply missing the last sentences or words. Sometimes I loose them in the draft too, other times I see them in the draft, but they do not appear in the preview OR when I publish (because I wanted to see if it was just a preview glitch)
2) I have also experienced correcting some of the things in nr 1, only to find that when I THINK I’m done and ready to publish, something else has disappeared. It almost takes longer to doublecheck Gutenbergs shortcomings than writing the post itself – and it’s not that I write short posts.
3) Most recently I started and finished a page and did the doublechecking that was needed with Gutenberg. Then it seemed fine. Later I checked the page on the live site, because I wanted to add links and the first couple of blocks/paragraphs were missing from the live site. Like just gone! They were there in the draft/editing area, but even if I pressed update etc it would not display the page from the beginning. Then I tried deleting a photo, incase it was a size thing. That took away a little more text on the live site AND changed the layout of the text entirely. Suddenly what was black and normal size in draft/edit, was reddish and medium size on live site.
Nr. 3 I solved by changing to Classic editing, which means cancelling Gutenberg.
I’m not completely letting Gutenberg go, but so far Gutenberg is seriously not improving my working experience or making my work easier or more efficient – quite the contrary.
I have no idea whether there a little box that needs ticking to make it work right, which is why this is posted here, rather than in the reviews.
So if anything like that can be done to prevent the issues – I’m all ears. I do see the potentials in Gutenberg, which is why these relatively simple things glitching is so frustrating.

]]>And now for a rant: Yes the VCita LiveSite support folk are responsive, always get back to me within one business day, however they seem to not even be reading my question before copying and pasting useless instructions for accomplishing tasks only tangentially related to my question. I’ve gone 3 rounds with support trying to find answers in how I can change the font on the SCHEDULER widget, and have gotten 3 different responses on how to style the LiveSite floating widget. These are DIFFERENT WIDGETS – they look and act differently even if they get users to the same place. Even if they aren’t completely different and I’m misunderstanding the basic structure of the plugin’s widget, no one is answering my question thoroughly enough to actually solve my problem. Yet every support response is marked as “solved” before I can even respond. This is driving me up a wall .

]]>I am moving my mamp file to my live site,
i followed the steps of moving and the last was to edit the confiq file with database!
However after doing that, when I enter into my livesite with the url, it automatically links back to localhost….
What is going on :OOOOOOO
Thanks!!!
]]>I have problem with my localhost. (MAMP is on, localhost is via website address). However when I do a change (editing style.css) and check it via localhost (using firebug) I can see the link on the first line is linking to live site. (This was earlier on the week as I thought it might be a cache or something) BUT today I went to it and it is still linking to live site!?
How? I don’t know, thought local host is only for local so I don’t know how the live site is linking via MAMP controls. Can anyone help me out on that please?
I have cleared the cache but still have the same problem..
]]>Any suggestions?
