So I’ve just discovered your translation site and opened an account there, intending to improve your translation, so I don’t have this problem with every update.

However, I want to draw you attention to the fact that most edits for the Serbian language have obviously been done by amateurs, and have unacceptable grammar and spelling flaws. I will try to do the corrections myself, but the main problems I’d like to draw your attention are the following:

1) In the translation obviously the latin and cyrillic versions are mixed (depending on the preference of the individual editor). I feel this is very unprofessional, and think you should have both versions available (but not mixed). While the cyrillic script is the official one for the Serbian language, latin is more widely used in the internet (I estimate by some 70% of Serbian speaking users).

2) Major edits have obviously been done by someone speaking Croatian, Bosnian or Montenegrian, but not Serbian language. For example, for “month” the word “mjesec” is being used, which is a word from these languages. The proper Serbian word is “mesec” (without the j). There are also other examples of “j” character inserted where it shouldn’t be (if you allow that, than you should rename the language into Croatian).

3) “Dj” is often used as a replacement for the “?” character, which is a common practice from the times when the language was called Serbo-Croatian, but it is not proper spelling. All the “dogadjaj” words should be changed into “doga?aj”.

There are also other spelling mistakes, but these have been the most important ones. I’ll do my best to correct them, but if guys who’ve obviously had bad grades in Serbian at school continue doing the edits, my hands are tied.

In an automatic newsletter, where does the text “Read online” come from? I can find the text string in the translation files, but in what file is the default text string added?

I have understood that this text is supposed adapt to the language setting of my WordPress installation, but I need the content of the newsletter to be in another language than the WordPress installation.

I need to modify some phrases of the default post type ‘post’ on the backend, programmatically using the theme functions.php, not the lang files !

example: display ‘items’ instead of ‘posts’

any idea how could this be done? or any small tut about it?
