I currently have a company who builds and manages my website, however I am not happy with what they are doing, so am wanting to take it on myself. How would I go about having my website imported in to word press for me to build on?
Many Thanks
]]>General questions.
Note, to easily understand my questions and what I wish to archive, is to have Amazon’s approaches in mind as it has many different domains, subdomains, and subfolders, yet have ONE MAJOR DISPLAY STORE to display all the products and services in one place.
1. I am thinking to have a FRONT-PAGE (installation) to e.g. example.com with A-Theme. As a new website, this page will handle introductory to the website, etc, but I wish to have fewer plugins here for fast access. Also, to be on the good side to Google’s new rating requirements, I wish to build this installation with a Gutenberg-oriented theme.
2. Have a MARKETPLACE-PAGE (Woocommerice shop-page) e.g example.com/marketplace with B-Theme, that’s to say two different themes with two different installations. This page (installation) will handle the whole STORES DISPLAY.
My questions are:
1. If I installed WCFM on the FRONT-PAGE (installation) or on a different installation for vendors to sign up, how is it to have vendor’s stores (goods) displayed on the MARKETPLACE-PAGE (shop-page installation)? _If you noticed, the domain Amazon used for vendors registration is different from the front-store domain, yet all the vendor’s goods appeared on the front-store page (domain)._
2. Regarding the above examples or needs, is it okay to have two or three different installations with efforts to use fewer plugins on each installation, and by trying to divide the needed plugin’s usage on each installation yet all to work with each other spontaneously? Also plus the need for two different designs for front and store installations with two different themes, what’s the best option, please?
3. What are the best approach or alternatives as I have started with the multisite approach but noticed that this too, will in the end requires too many plugins in one place, also, nearly all the backup plugins, plus some good plugins are not compatible. However, IF THIS IS STILL THE BEST ALTERNATIVE TO ARCHIVE THE ABOVE NEEDS, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW? Thank you!
Lastly, on the above needs, what are the best method or suggestions for installing subdomains to complement the above feels, the main domain, Google wise, etc, is it through subdomains (sub.example.com/) or subfolders ?example.com/sub/)?
Thanks for your attention. I’m looking forward to your reply.
]]>We need to recreate our site from scratch. When I mean from scratch I mean we want to keep the same content (pages, articles, URLs and tons of media) and move it to a new WordPress installation with a different theme.
A brief background to try to understand what the underlying problem is. The current site (the one to be copied and transferred) is HUGE. It has more than 1500 pages and 3000 articles. It is currently running on an old version of WordPress and an outdated theme. We are deliberately not updating WordPress, theme and PHP so as not to risk crashing and being left without a site (this has already happened in the past with another installation).
What we have done is to create (on the same hosting) a new, updated installation of WordPress (on another directory). This will be the new and definitive one. Then – when all is said and done – we should use the name of the first installation (but this will be another issue to deal with at the end). We decided to operate in this way because we want everything to be done as safely as possible.
Some details:
Objective: SITE 1 -> SITE 2
SITE 1:
Installation: domain.org/directory1
WordPress 5.2
PHP 7.1.33
Theme: Awaken
SITE 2:
Installation: domain.org/directory2
WordPress 5.7.1
PHP 7.1.33
Theme: Divi Builder
At the moment, we have already installed the new theme in directory2 and created the home page that will host all the pages and articles from the old site. We are not interested in keeping the plugins. Our aim is for the new installation to be as “clean” as possible, without the risk of dragging around old problems.
What do you think is the correct way to proceed? Again, the most important thing is that the links are not changed (so that the URLs will still work once the change has been made; I mean: domain.org/directory1/perma/link/article-written-in-the past = domain.org/directory2/perma/link/article-written-in-the past
Could the export/import tool do this job? How should I proceed to make sure that I don’t affect the performance of the new site? Is it possible to carry out a test with a few pages to see if this can be done?
Thank you all!

Do I need to install the plugin for every single wordpress installation?
Thanks!

]]>When I do a Google Search for keywords that my plugin has on the front end, I only find ~ 30 sites. I realize that not all sites will have the pages indexed that contain my plugin, and it’s possible that the plugin is active and not set up correctly. This could explain why these sites/pages don’t show up in the search engines. Still, I’m just struggling to believe that the “active installations” is a close approximation.
Any thoughts?
