I changed my Instagram account to a creator/basic business account to be able to display my IG feed. Although this worked for about a month it’s no longer updating. When I try to connect my IG account to enable access for Smash Balloon I get this error message when trying to connect:
“Uh oh! Something went wrong when connecting your account
No Access Token returned by Instagram.
There may be an issue on Instagram’s end. Please visit this page to see if there are any known issues with Instagram’s API. We really apologize for any inconvenience!
You can also try connecting your account as a “Business Advanced” account. Find directions for this type of connection here
Please click here to return to the plugin settings page.”
I’ve deleted the plugin and reinstalled it; tried to connect IG and Smash Balloon in both Firefox and Safari (latest versions).
I don’t know how to create an API Access Token to connect manually.
Any suggestions?
]]>A change which is set to roll out on October 24 will break embedded Facebook and Instagram content on WordPress sites.
To be specific, an upcoming API update will remove support for unauthenticated Facebook and Instagram embeds.
That means, after October 24, embedded content will only be supported for publishers with a Facebook developer account and a registered Facebook app.
The change is retroactive, so all Facebook and Instagram embeds on the sites of unauthenticated publishers will soon become broken. This has the potential to affect millions of sites.
Will it effect your plugin too? If yes, do you have any plan to fix this?
Thank you.

Instagram (Facebook) has decided to change the permissions to access, to consume their allocated data, based on two different APIs.
Now there are two possibilities:
The personal API allows for consuming data from a specific account.
The business API allows us to consume data from specific accounts and also public content. Where fits the tags from an Instagram point of view. You can read more about?changes in the Instagram/Facebook API here.
Personal feed
If you’re are experiencing issues with your Instagram personal feeds please remove your token and create the token again, then make sure to select it again in the feed.
Take in mind that the new personal API has limited some data with respect to the previous one, and now it is not possible to display the number of likes and comments with the personal token.
If you want to display the number of comments and like please consider creating a business account and update your token.
Tag feed
If you’re are experiencing issues with an Instagram tag feed you’ll have to create a business account to be able to consume public content (#tag).
Then you have to connect your business account to display the tag Feed, here is the explanation
I hope this clarifies the situation about the new use of the Instagram API by Instagram Feed Gallery. Please let us know if you have more doubts about these changes.
Kind regards

I’ve tried to google around to work out if I can fix it but nothing I’ve tried has worked and I can’t understand why it’s not working.
Any ideas?
]]>Currently, we have a non-business account, so the plugin is using the Instagram Public API, which will no longer work by the end of Dec, correct?
In order for the Instagram account to have access to the new Graph API, it must be converted to a business account. At that point, assuming we’re on the latest version of your plugin, will it seamlessly transition to using the new API and thus avoid any disruption come Dec? We don’t have a planned deployment for several months after Dec, so I’d prefer if we can make all necessary changes now so that we won’t have to do anything when the changes happen.
Thanks in advance!
