Inflated Website Traffic / Visits

I run the marketing campaign for this company and we’ve had an issue come up twice where we’ve seen a crazy increase in website visits, and it’s not real traffic. It can’t be. Sept-Oct. we had just under 2,000 billable visits on the site but Aug-Sept recorded over 25,000 visits. 25,939 to be exact. Can’t seem to find the source of the issue.

Getting crazy views for number of visitors all of a sudden

The last few post I’ve made I’ve been getting crazy numbers of page views for the number of visitors. Today you can see in this screenshot that I had 10 visitors and 120 views. 108 of them from someone in turkey and 78 of them are of some random picture from a post over a year ago. This has happened for the last few posts but wasn’t so blatantly from one place. What’s the deal?

My site thestorybazaar.com has stats on WordPress using Jetpack by WordPress. However, the numbers are often, quite demonstrably, incorrect. So, I can add together the number of visitors per day for seven days ( Mon to Sunday )but find that that number is much higher then the number of visitors shown as visiting that week. This discrepancy then feeds through to the monthly stats too.

Often I see, say, three visitors on a given morning, but the country identifier shows, say, five different countries, and from across the globe. Now I know it’s possible for someone in, say, the US to be using an IP address based in Brazil, but that this individual has two IP addresses, one in Brazil and one in the US is a little far fetched.

Are other people having this problem?

Incorrect Stats on WordPress App

Hi all

Hope someone can help.

I have a self hosted blog and have paid wordpress.com to redirect people to my new blog www.tastefullyvikkie.com

I added my self hosting blog to the app so I could check the stats and it was working perfectly. However, I don’t know what happened but they are no long correct and now get “No activity in this period” but I can see them correctly if I log on to my laptop.

I did have to create a new username a couple of weeks ago as wordpress.com and .org are different and believe this is when the stats changed.

I hope someone can shed some light as I’m so confused.#

Plugin stats show version that doesn't exist

I created the Simple Link List Widget plugin and the most current version is 0.3.1. In the stats it shows version 18.11 as 1.7% of the active versions which has never existed. I have verified that all of my plugin document headers specify 0.3.1 as the Stable Tag. Any suggestions?

Incorrect Stat Counts

I’ve been using a Who’s Online Plugin to monitor site activity when I share a blog. Wednesday I shared a blog with a 5 minute video. When I first shared it, there were 15 people on that blog. Periodically I hit F5 to see how many were still there. There were 12 people who actually stayed the full 5 minutes – during the first 5 minutes when I shared it. When looking at the stats for that day – there is only 2 visits for that day. Where are all the other 13 visits and the visits from the ENTIRE DAY because I know for sure that more than 15 people saw the video on my site. All of my stats are very low when I know they should be higher.

incorrect stats displayed

Hi,

I have two problems with the stats displated by Nike+ plugin:
1/ the Most Recent feature shows zeros for all stats:
0.00KM Distance
00:00 Duration
’00″/KM Pace
0CAL Calories Burned

2/ the All Time feature provides incorrect Total Duration and Average Pace values:
on the official Nike+ website I can see my Total Duration as 71:18:33 but the plugin shows 11:18:33; also the average pace should be 5’38″/KM instead of 0’54″/KM. Other values are correct (total runs, distance, calories).

I have tried WP 3.3 and also latest version as of today with the same results. Is there any chance this problem does not affect just me? I will be happy to help with troubleshooting.
