Now WordPress has dropped support for IE8, it would be awesome if the default urls in the media uploads (and if fact all uploads) was the double forward-slash by default i.e. //mysite/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/myimage.jpg instead of the https:// I understand the only reason http is used was because IE8 and older browsers didn’t support the abbreviated version?
I appreciate you wouldn’t be able to makes this backwards compatible, but for new sites / uploads it would be awesome and it would resolve most of the issues / greatly speed up the process when transferring a site to https:// and when viewing a localhost site on a mobile device etc.
This would be my absolute WordPress dream for 2017
Kind regards,
Paul.
]]>I use the lastest release of tinyframework and one of my clients has problems using the website with internet explorer 8: it falls down in compatibility mode and mashes up the design. I send you the error message at the end of this mail. I am not a JavaScript expert but I found this post about “addEventListener” and its problems with ie8:

Can someone offer a fix for that script?

]]>Thanks for the wonderful plugin, it works like a charm! My only problem is that the plugin is not working and triggering an error message in IE 8 and lower, which unfortunately I still need to target. I know it is tricky to troubleshoot old IE versions, but maybe you can suggest a way to conditionally disable the plugin on those browsers?
Thanks for your help!

]]>I tried disabling plugins, didn’t help.
However when I switched themes I didnt have that issue. I tried removing functions and code from functions.php in my theme to see if that would remedy this issue but it didn’t work either.
Anyone know what other files in my theme might be causing this issue?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Could this plugin be used so that older browsers (yeah it’s only IE8) can see a PNG version of the image but then newer browsers (that support SVG) will see the SVG version of the image/graphic.
I’d love to use more SVG graphics in WordPress sites but so far the core does not support them very well (most likely due to security concerns) and also I’m handicapped by having to support some users using IE8 (for corporate and government websites). I call em ‘cobweb users’.
In non WordPress sites, I have used some tricks and hacks provided by csstricks.com but I’m hesitant to use those workarounds in WordPress.

Just curious to find out if GP deals with this problem at all since it supports IE8 browsers.
Cheers.
