Does it matter for SEO purposes if that URL is http vs https? I don’t see any mixed content errors, so it seems to me that it shouldn’t matter, but I figured I would see if anyone knew for certain one way or the other.
If it does matter, is there a way to change it on our end, or is it an issue that Yoast needs to take care of?
Thanks!
]]>I want to know if it is possible to completely delete a https:// WordPress website and rebuild in https://. In cPanel I deleted the WordPress install, the MySQL Database and the Public_html. I then selected https:// to rebuild the website; however I still have instances of reverting back to https:// as if old front pages/link still exists. My domain provider suggested I add a 301 redirect to the .htaccess file – which I did and which solved the initial problem. But I still want to know if I can set up the same domain in https:// without the redirect.
In cPanel there is the following information which may be the source of the problem:
Is it possible to change the https://66.206.89.45/~auctions to https://?
How is that done and who needs to do it?
Thank a lot,
Stephen

]]>What file(s) in WP have this .html information? Where/how can I update them so the site will be secure according to Google?
]]>To me it looks like the plugin is only using http and not https to call the E!A site. If I directly connect to my E!A site with https it works great, but if I use http I get the same error.
How do I update / edit the plugin to use https?
Thankyou in advance

]]>I had social avatar enabled on our user’s profiles. But (1) I found many of our users were getting an error for images, and my pages were considered not secure because (2) users using social login could have images that didn’t use https. (3) There were also instances where their email address was being used as an avatar url with ‘https://’ written in front of it, which caused another sort of problems.
Can you fix it so that it doesn’t collect a Social Avatar Url if:
1. Social avatar is not https.
2. Social Avatar url is email if ‘http:’ is removed?
Till then, I disabled it so it won’t cause anymore problems.
Thanks.
]]>In wanting to return to the original http, I asked my host (Bluehost) to remove the certificate as I don’t really need it. I just added it because it came free with renewal. I have used Google Webmaster Tools already to request re-indexing of my site. But it seems that somewhere my website is still pointing to the https versions.
Interestingly, not all of my posts are affected (this was the case even before the SSL certificate was removed). But very importantly, it affects my homepage and many of our most popular posts. You can get to them directly by typing in the correct http version of URLs, but not if you use a search engine to find them (which is how most people get to our site).
This error comes up when you click through to affected articles in search results:
Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to notesofnomads(dot)com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)
Bluehost said that they are unable to assist. If anyone can help me in locating where my site might be pointing to the https version of posts and how I can rectify this, I would really, really appreciate it.
Many thanks.
